Sad to report Charles Napier died today October 5, 2011. We all remember him as the "lead singer and driver of the Winnebago."

He lived in Bakersfield California, as do I. I met him on several occasions. I'll try to post local coverage as it becomes available.

Oh, this can is from a surplus disposal run. 15 overcharged ounces of pure uncompounded isoproponyl butane monosulphide.

Local news coverage 1. Sorry for the primitive video transfer method.

That's a shame. Second only to his Mcelroy character I know him best as Duke Philips.

He had a distinctive voice and character to him.

This is a clip from the second local television station's coverage of his passing. I feel it shows more about who the guy was away from the camera, very friendly and appreciative of his fans. Every once in a while he would be a guest newscaster on this station for local events. He was out and about in town a lot and you could run into him at the mall, at a Dennys, or as I did at Home Depot. A real down to Earth guy. The volume is low, so you may need to turn your speakers up.

Very sad to hear about the original Good Ole Boy. I'll try to live up to your expectations, "Tucker".

Just joined the forum today. Napier is a loss he was a great actor with a clasic voice. He was often seen in various 80s- and 90's TV and movie rolls including Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, and even Austin Powers. He will be missed.
