This is a post from Danny Gottlieb.. I played drums in the Blues Brothers Touring band (1987 through about 2002).. I am on the recordings "Live at Montreux"(and video), "Red, White and Blues", and "Live at House of Blues, Chicago", and have a cameo in BB 2000. I joined this forum today, and wanted to post something about Alan "Mr. Fab" Rubin.... I know everyone knows him from the BB band and movies, but please be aware, he was really one of the greatest Trumpet players in the world, and one of the most special people.. sometime... just take a look how many recordings on which he played! It's unbelievable.. He made the horn section come alive, and was just so much fun to be around on the road.. but he was really something... I did some movie date with him once, and he played a Ballad for the soundtrack. I have NEVER heard a trumpet player with a more beautiful sound..ever.. Anyway... all the best to BB suporters, and please remember Alan for the personality he was, but also as one of the true greats!!
