I just recently watched the 2008 film "Bottle Shock".
Throughout the film I couldn't help but think that this is a reworking of
Noble Rot.
IMO, there are too many similarities for it to be only coincidence.
Has anyone, who is familiar with both of these works, made this connection?
Bottle Shock = Noble Rot?

Other than both plots revolve around wine, there aren't really any similarities. Bottle Shock is based on true events.

I'll have to read "Noble" again, but
from what I recall....
Both are stories of a slightly irresponsible son who, at first reluctant to do so,
takes the responsibility of delivering samples of their family's California wine to a distant, yet major tasting competition, and as a result, matures in the process and he and his family ultimately get the last laugh.
The Noble Rot which can destroy an entire crop, or turn it into a legendary wine,
compared with the wine in the second film that was thought to be destroyed,
but turned out to be legendary.
There is also a character, in each story, that wants to take the family's wine to France,
where at the time (both stories taking place in roughly the same time period),
California wine is unpopular, but feels that with their fortunate "one of a kind" wine,
will win over the French wine community.
Of course there is no diamond smuggling ring in Bottle Shock, or some of the other goofy stuff,
but I'm also guessing that on a second pass their could be found a couple more similarities.
Maybe they both drew inspiration from the same events?

Hm, at first I was like "where the beep have they read Noble Rot?" since it was never released, but I found this place that supposedly has it.
NOBLE ROT - JOHN BELUSHI'S LOST SCREENPLAY
I guess all I recalled was the weird stuff from Noble that came from its downward turn.
