I made a promise to myself that I will learn how to play my harmonica over the summer. I've had it for many years and now I really want to learn. I just don't really know where to get started.. Does anyone know of some websites containing instructions on how to play?
I got a Hohner marine band C.. is that a harmonica that works well?
thanks in advance

I bought a book called "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Playing The Harmonica" from Amazon and it's bloody brill or u could try Haronica-lessons.co.uk. That's a good website for getting the basics.
Hope this helps u .

will I will give u some tipsw the first thing u have to learn for playin' harp is single notes now u cant pick up a harmonica and blow into it your blowing into like 3 or 4 holes witch is not good in order to play single notes you need to place your toung ontop of the hole next to the one u want to play so if you were going to play hole # 3 u would put the tip of your toung over the 2 hole and you shuld get a clean note now it will be hard at first ok but I have been playing for a littel over 5 months and it is easy to get better once u have started

P.s dont worry about bending or any thing elts now first is single notes

Hehe I made the exact same promise to myself the other night, completely out of the blue(s).

http://www.webterrace.com/harmonica/lessons.htm is cool for some basics. I'm currently a pro at playing "You Are My Sunshine" :P

Although I must admit it's a lot easier to just jam and improvise (VERY simple improv) to cd's. I think it's 'cause I usually play guitar, so the musical side is sorted but remembering the songs and more advanced techniques like bending are still tricky as hell.

Hope I could be of help.
