This post:

talked about the wiring for the police-only, yet still optional, Monaco water temp / oil pressure gauge:
> It looks like I have some homework to do, if I am to get this working properly.
and I thought it would be a good to get all my notes in one place.

Excluding the illumination wiring, the gauge back has four connections. While looking at the back, they are labeled (starting at upper left and proceeding clockwise): violet, gray, black, black (pic 1).

Violet goes to the water temperature gauge
Gray goes to the oil pressure gauge
Black and black are the same connection and go to the 2209216 IVR4 voltage limiter on the back of the instrument cluster

The limiter is designed to provide 5V to the gauges. Here's some information about the limiter:
RTE Gauge Faq - RTE

The limiter just plugs into the back of the instrument cluster. The black & black wire terminal just rests next to one of the prongs on the limiter and the limiter and the terminal slide into the instrument cluster together.

Pic 2 shows the terminal from the black and black wire that rests next to the prong of the limiter.

Pic 3 shows the prong on the voltage limiter where the terminal slides in against (pointed to by the screwdriver)

has an attachment that provides info on new senders for the oil pressure & water temperature gauges.

Here's the info:
Standard - eCatalog
Sender - Oil Pressure With Gauge - PS-59
Sender - Temperature With Gauge- TS-17

I got my senders here:
RockAuto Auto Parts

I'm thinking of getting a solid-state replacement limiter to protect the gauges. Anybody tried one?

Pic 1, from left to right:

Original voltage limiter
solid-state voltage limiter
Switch - Oil Pressure With (idiot) Light 1 PS-11X
Sender - Oil Pressure With Gauge 1 PS-59
Sender - Temperature With Gauge 1 TS-17
Sender - Temperature With (idiot) Light 1 TS-124

The solid-state limiter looks neat - it has an LED on the back that flashes when everything is running fine. There's no way that one could actually see the LED directly when its connected to the back of the instrument cluster, so if you want to check it, wait until nighttime them look for the reflection.

I thought that oil pressure / water temp gauge was police-only (yet still optional).

But found that it was also available on taxis:
http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/bluesmobiles/10114-brochures-1974-monaco-custom-brougham.html#post115276
so then I thought it was fleet-only.

But then found it on two civilian cars.

I don't know if it came originally with those cars, or what options could result in a civilian car receiving it.

I thought to investigate the part number. It could be on the part, but my gauge is in the other room. Have to love the parts catalog!

Pic 1 shows the part number: 3592655

and a quick search shows this for sale in several places.

good post. I have a police-package dash I'm debating on installing and was wondering how much hassle it would be to make it work.

Does anyone have a good shot of the Oil Pressure/Temperature gauge in the car? I'd like to possibly convert my clock to one, if I can get enough reference pics to do it right. I couldn't find any pictures anywhere and I've seen a few on eBay that are supposedly the correct parts for other cars of the year, but before shelling out the money, I want to know if it'd look correct.

Hi LV:

The oil pressure/water temperature gauge mounts in direct replacement of the clock, so if you have the gauge, you have all you need to have it mounted correctly.

Thank you, Arthur,

That was PERFECT! While I do like my functioning clock, the temp/oil pressure gauge might be more useful for daily driving as well as a movie replica; though, I'm working on getting a second one to do a proper replica treatment to. I've grown rather attached to my current '74 that it'd be easier to buy a second to modify and preserve the one I have.

Thanks from here, too! I'll be swapping my chrono out for guages in the spring as well.
