Jim's new show will begin airing this Fall.

Quote

The Plot: From the executive producer of CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION comes an irreverent new legal drama about two fiery and charismatic Las Vegas defense attorneys. Tenacious, defiant and completely engaging, they argue the law, and they follow the law, but they always keep a few tricks up their sleeves. No matter what the odds, these lawyers keep fighting for the little guy

Not to be confused with the 1961-65 series of the same name also on CBS.

Well, it's from the CSI production family, so it can't be too horrible.

That looks good.I like Jim,and I've always liked Jerry O'Connell (Sliders anyone?). I'll definitely check this out.
I got everything I need....almost...

(Still inspiring me--and knowing me like a book)

Here's an interview with Jim about the show -

Quote

At the recent Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, the cast and producers of the new CBS series The Defenders answered questions from the press about their new show. The interesting thing about this series is that it is actually based on a documentary about a pair of Las Vegas attorneys (Michael Cristalli and Marc Saggese). These two attorneys are the basis for the two main characters of Nick Morelli, played by Jim Belushi, and Pete Kaczmarek, played by Jerry O’Connell.

'The Defenders' eyes Dan Aykroyd

Quote

Ready for a "Blues Brothers" reunion? CBS' upcoming rookie legal drama "The Defenders" certainly is, according to co-creator/executive producer Kevin Kennedy.

The creative team behind the series, in which Jerry O'Connell and Jim Belushi play Las Vegas defense attorneys, has eyes on Dan Aykroyd to guest star as a tough judge who clashes with Belushi's unorthodox lawyer.

LOL, a true "Blues Brothers reunion" would more likely take place on Ghost Hunters. ;) Speaking of that show, it's a wonder they haven't had Dan as a guest host yet. They've had CM Punk and Meat Loaf - Meat's episode was really good, actually.

Anyone catch the show? It was alright, nothing special. Jim and Jerry seem good together. Could have used a car chase. It's only the first episode so we'll see how it progresses. I'm probably not the best critic to have as, for me, the Soprano's rendered all other television dramas obsolete. Yes I know it's not fair to compare HBO to a network show but still, there really wasn't any substance to this premiere episode of The Defenders.

But, if they keep getting the viewers they got Wednesday night it will survive.

Quote

Wednesday's other big winner was CBS, which led all three hours of primetime in total viewers and saw its new show "The Defenders" get off to a decent start. "Survivor: Nicaragua" (12.6 million viewers, 4.0 in 18-49), "Criminal Minds" (14.1 million, 4.0) and "The Defenders" (12.2 million, 2.9) gave the network a very consistent lineup.

Buster & I watched the pilot this weekend, and we did like it better than we thought we would... we thought it got better as it went along. Not something I'd normally make Must See TV but we'll stick with it for a while and see how it goes, especially with the temptation of a possible Aykroyd pay-off later in the season!

I watched all the episodes so far, and...I don't know...I just can't seem to get into it. It makes me miss "According To Jim" so much more. I really liked that show, and wish it could have lasted a few more seasons.

I think with "The Defenders", I'm just not a fan of courtroom shows in general. I would probably like it a lot more if it was more of an action-comedy cop show like "Hardcastle & McCormack" or "Nash Bridges", or if it was a detective mystery like "Monk", "Columbo", or "Diagnosis Murder".

I'll stick with it until the Dan Aykroyd episode airs, but after that...I might skip it if it doesn't start holding my interest.

Did you catch the preview for next weeks show? A definite Elvis theme.

:D

I caught it this week after missing a couple of episodes. I enjoyed it, Jim is good. I was looking at the ratings and this show is kicking ass in its time-slot. Here's the last three Wednesdays ...

It's great the show is doing so well. I like Jim's portrayal. I watched tonight's episode, with the subplot about the Elvis memorialbilia, and it was the first episode I really got interested in. And not just for the Elvis subplot....I also got interested in the main plot of the young guy who drove the car for the gambling/loanshark case. Might be a turning point. I'll see if I get interested in next week's episode.

Did anybody catch the BB homage in the most recent episode (Oct. 27)? A police officer pulled over Jim's character at night and shined a flashlight in his face! :BB:
