Just announced: The Drafthouse Alamo and Levi's® have partnered to champion stories of our most celebrated celluloid workers. Throughout Augusts’ hazy summer nights, the Alamo and Levi’s will be taking the Rolling Roadshow to the people under the unified banner of ‘We Are All Workers.’
Rooted by one of the nation’s founding principles, We Are All Workers hits the road with nine seminal screenings proving that everybody’s work is equally important. True to form, each screening will be in the location where the film was shot or set.

Aug. 7 – DIRTY HARRY at San Francisco’s Washington Square Park

Aug. 8 – THERE WILL BE BLOOD at California’s Kern County Museum

Aug. 8 – CONVOY & RED DAWN Double Feature at the Ft. Union Drive-In in Las Vegas, NM

*Aug. 13 – THE BLUES BROTHERS at Chicago’s Joliet Prison*

Aug. 14 – ROBOCOP at Detroit’s Russell Industrial Center

Aug. 19 – ROCKYTHON! (ROCKY I-III) at the Philadelphia Art Museum

Aug. 20 – ON THE WATERFRONT at Hoboken’s Pier A Park

Aug. 27 – THE GODFATHER Part II on a Manhattan rooftop near Little Italy

---

All Rolling Roadshow ‘We Are All Workers’ screenings are free, open to the public and will be accompanied by related events at each location. For more information and updates on individual shows and their related events, check back on the Alamo's Rolling Roadshow Page or the Levi's® Facebook Group

Thanks Steam and TK...might be worth a look. It occurs the same weekend as the Chicago Air and Water Show...reason enough to visit Illinois! Cheers.

Nickels, are you also taking your Bluesmobile to the Chicagoland emergency vehicle show the Saturday before this (Aug. 7)? There's going to be a gathering of Bluesmobiles there, and they will be going to the Mt. Prospect cruise-in following the show.

There's a redesigned set of posters, one for each of the movies being shown on the Roadshow.

Haha I just noticed from TK's link that they'll be serving Orange Whips, fried chicken, and dry white toast after the movie. :o

In remembrance of the time Jake spent in the big house, this screening will take place just outside the walls of Illinois’ Joliet Prison.

Note: seating is not provided at this event, please bring your own blanket or lawn chairs. Please no pets.

Want to join us for free cocktails after the screening? We’ll be serving orange whips, fried chickens and dry white toast inside of a church! Be one of the first 50 to complete the Blues Brothers Gowalla Trip and win two tickets to the party, or come in costume to the screening.

Belushi and director John Landis were born in Chicago, and The Blues Brothers frequently tops lists of great movies starring the Windy City.

"Chicago is one of the stars of the movie. We wrote it as a tribute," Dan Aykroyd told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Rained out.. Boo.

It was looking good for a while there. When my sister and I got there, they were playing Briefcase Full of Blues on the PA system. The organizers interrupted a few times to let us know that the doppler weather forecast showed a "narrow strip" of high winds and possible showers moving through the areas. We all bunkered down when the winds got there, waited out the seven minutes of drizzle. Someone even shouted "Come on! You get more wet in the shower! We want the show...!"

...and then the TIDAL WAVE hit.

They moved the screening to a church on Richards St. nearby but my sister vetoed the idea and we ended up driving back home.

Ohh that suuuucks.

The church must have been where they were serving the chicken afterward. :BB:

Did you get any posters ?
I read that all of the redesigned movie posters would be available.

I didn't and I'm kind of glad I didn't, because it would have gotten soaked along with everything else. I was wondering if I could get one through the website.

Meanwhile, we put the DVD on as soon as we got home. My sister had never seen it and was sorry we didn't get to see it at Joliet once she saw all the locations in the opening.

I wonder how Dauber made out? Him and his wife were going to go. (Dang that sounds like poor grammar. "He and his wife" ... "His wife and I" - oops scratch that - Here we go ... Dauber and his lovely wife were planning to attend. haha Touchdown.

LOL.

Steam -- thanks for asking. Actually, we ended up not going. We took an overnight trip to New Buffalo, MI and the morning we came back home we got a call that our beagle injured herself, so we decided to stay home just to make sure she'd be okay. (Ruthie's almost back to normal!) And...my wife and I were thankful we decided not to go, because either way the weather sucked...it was hot and humid before the rain, and, well...rainy DURING the rain!

Also...a friend of mine told me the church was at 1st and Richards...NO, THANK YOU. (For perspective, 2nd and Richards is the most dangerous place in Joliet. Lotsa shootings happen there.)

So instead we watched A Hard Day's Night. :BB: We've been meaning to watch that for a long time. Maybe we'll watch The Blues Brothers some time this week, especially as tomorrow's the anniversary of my father-in-law's death (he left 25 years to the day Elvis went. As my wife said, "He knew how to go out with class."), and he was a fan of the movie...my wife tells me that was the ONLY time he ever would allow a video recording in EP mode because the movie wouldn't fit on the tape any other way. :)

A group of us went down for the show. While we waited for them to re-setup the screen we went to get our picture taken next to the Bluesmobile. I'm grad you guys brought it, and all the way from Jersey. Once we took our picture we could'nt move away. Everyone wanted their picture with us and your Bluesmobile. We were there for over a half hour posing for pictures. Once the rain really got going we moved to the church. It was a great seeing it on the big screen again. A great big thanks to the church for hosting. That was the best @#%& chicken in the state, and the complimentary Orange Whips, way to go.

P.S. Elwood loved the dry white toast too.

Elwood and I were standing by Nickels car taking pictures when the TIDAL Wave hit. Thanks for bringing it all the way from Jersey. We waited out the storm and then went to the church for the show. It was great seeing it on the big screen again. Complimentary Orange Whips and the Best darn chicken in the state made it worth waiting out the storm. They never charged us for the first round so we thought drinks for the band were on the house.
