Chicago scaled back the fireworks this year due to budget issues. Instead of having the fireworks on July 3rd (Chicago did this for 30 years), they had the fireworks on July 4. This year there were 3 shows going on along the lakefront. Northside, Navy Pier and south side. The display only lasted 15 minutes, rather than the traditional 25 or 30 minutes. Seems too short to have staked out a position all day, as people did, in the heat, for a scaled back display.
