Aw, if I'd known he'd be in Austin that next Monday after Houston (and I had enough energy/time/gas/money), I might have gone again and tried to get a picture this time! Or the San Antonio one before...I'd been wanting an excuse to visit that part of the state again. (Lived not far from there when I was little.)

It looks like someone needs to update the calendar, over at the CHV website.

The two above dates are not on there, and I'd hate to think that I could miss his next trip
through this area because there was no info on the website.

From the Winnipeg stop last Saturday ...

Aykroyd in town to say 'thanks'

Dan Aykroyd's "Gratitude Tour" passed through Winnipeg on Saturday.
The actor and musician is driving across Canada to thank liquor agencies, distributors and consumers for patronizing the Aykroyd family of wines, Crystal Head vodka and Patron tequila.
Saturday's stop was slightly different than his previous visit to Winnipeg in the spring of 2009, when the wines were his focus. This time, he and his entourage rolled into town in a white, six-cylinder, 13-speed RV emblazoned with Crystal Head's skull logo on each side. It has been affectionately dubbed, "The Head Mobile" or "The Skull Wagon."
"It's better than a bus. It's a rolling billboard," Aykroyd said Saturday morning in the lounge at the Fairmont Winnipeg.
The star of The Blues Brothers and a pair of Ghostbusters movies then thrilled the sparse crowd by jumping the bus over a row of motorcycles.

YES!!! Finally, after a lifetime of waiting, the opportunity has arrived. Dan's coming to Portland, Oregon as last! Now I can finally meet him. I plan on getting a bottle of CHV signed, a photo of my tribute band signed and of course a photo taken with him. This is the best news I've had since my band accepted me as their new Elwood. :P

From Regina ...

Posted Image

By Will Chabun, Leader-Post

- Dan Aykroyd has gone from the Bluesmobile to the Headmobile.
And that's fine with him.

The Bluesmobile, of course, was the grotty ex-cop car in which Aykroyd (and co-star John Belushi) roamed Chicago seeking blues and redemption in 1980's The Blues Brothers -- which recently got a "thumbs up" from the Vatican newspaper. That pleased Aykroyd who, over a coffee the Hotel Saskatchewan Radisson Plaza, talked about the spiritual values below surface of this classic comedy: befriend the prisoner, comfort the weak and help the downtrodden.

"Maybe," he says mischievously, "the Pope can be my agent."

Aykroyd isn't crying the blues

From what I've noticed reading about Dan's signing appearances is that he will sign anything you bring him. Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters, SNL ... heck bring in the sun-visor from a car he'll sign that too! I'm not sure if there's a limit to what you can bring but 2 or 3 items probably wouldn't be out of the question. Considering the line-ups he gets any more than 3 items might be frowned upon. Keep in mind you also get another opportunity on the 24th in Burnaby. So if you had 4 items you really wanted signed you could bring 2 to Vancouver and 2 to Burnaby. Just a thought. :BB:

I just wish the news outlets would do a couple seconds of homework and spell his name properly. We see this time and time again ...

Posted Image

Since Ontario has banned his bottle for sale here - Ontario bans Dan Aykroyd's skull-shaped vodka - The Globe and Mail - I'll have to watch for a Quebec signing. Maybe later this year.?

I see that CHV has updated their events calendar.
(I was just talking to them a few days ago about there being no updates)

They told me that regular updates to the CHV website will be rare, because it is shutting down and going off-line.
-------------------

... Going off-line because they are opening a Brand New and improved website, in Oct. ! http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum2/public/style_emoticons/default/icon_cool.gif

It will be located here:
http://www.explorecrystalhead.com

From what I understand it will have more features, content and greater interactivity.

* With that good news also came some downer news for us locals...
No plans for another Chicago visit, in the near future. :?

From Edmonton ...

Posted Image

"We have just produced one million bottles of Crystal Head Vodka and I am here on a gratitude tour to thank Albertans," says Aykroyd, a naturalized American who maintains Canadian roots as a resident of Sydenham, Ont. The vodka, sells in Edmonton for $52.99 plus tax.

Aykroyd also has interests in Patron tequila and is in a wine partnership with Niagara Cellars. But he says the Patron XO is the star of the show. "It's cafe-infused and is on fire in the nightclubs in the U.S.," he says. "My dad Peter is 88 years old and pours Patron XO on his cereal. "It must be good. He published A History of Ghosts last year and is working on his fourth book."

Next Monday, can't wait! Gonna buy another bottle of CHV, get that and a BB movie poster signed and hopefully a photo with him and my girlfriend. Gonna drive the Blumo to the liquor store and maybe if the Lord, who works in mysterious ways, decides to shine upon me I might be able to get him to check out the car before he hits the road. A picture of that or a signature on the convict cage window would rule. A meeting of the Elwood's. :)

One can only hope, eh? A photo with him is the ultimate accomplishment for me, here's hope!

For sure you'll get that photo, Rune. If you park your Bluesmobile where Dan enters the building he'll walk right over and sign it for you. If you can't get a good spot out front then do what TK826 did and bring your sun visor in with you to get signed. Good luck on your mission!!

Here's another bit from Saskatchewan that I noticed ...

Dan Aykroyd reluctantly talks about sports

When approached by The Sheaf about being interviewed specifically about sports, Aykroyd became squeamish and requested the questions to be emailed to him. Nevertheless, Aykroyd was a good sport in the end and eventually agreed to pose with the traditional Huskies green and white pom-poms and promptly replied to the sports-oriented questions.
