The Original Bluesmobile Found! (sort of...)
That's it, call off the search! One of the original Bluesmobiles from the original 1980 movie has finally been located!

At least, that's what the owner would have you believe. Allow me to explain...

Damn, gotta sell the Monaco now and go find an '83 Plymouth to convert, I want a perfect clone!! (Hmmm, and how much for that blue Pacer in the background, I wonder?)

Well, it is a Dodge police car ... but that's where it ends.



Dodge Diplomat. Looks to be an '84 or '85 but It's hard to tell because I'm not sure that fender is original to the car. The marker lamp doesn't look right?? But to claim this as an original movie car is kind of sickening. He would've had an easier time claiming it was an '85 Dippy from Dragnet!! :o



Time for a couple of e-mails to the auction site. Just a quick how she go and did ya know?

Some other little things. Here's a quote from elvis-express.com ...

But now, another concern that has popped up. Mr Kinard claims he has an original car from the cult movie, 'The Blues Brothers'. On his website Elvis Presley Heights.com Bill Kinard states, "Other vehicles that are on display in front of the museum includes "The Blues Brothers Car that survived the movie, Blues Brothers"...

If that claim was on Bill's website, I'm not seeing it now.

Also, the wording is sketchy on actually identifying the car as a "Bluesmobile." In the auction they don't mention Bluesmobile at all.

However, they do claim this car was used in a movie which was filmed 5 or 6 years before it was built :o so that's the point I made in my e-mails to the auction Admin. Contact (James) and the auction Expert Contact (Ted).

The proper year of that Dippy is starting to bug me lol. The driver side marker lamp (which is actually not part of the fender) has been in an accident but the passenger side is intact.



So, without the VIN, how to tell if it's an '83, '84 '85 or '86? I'm not seeing a lot of difference in the lights or grille between those years.

If you take a good look at the photograph, anybody can see that it's definitely not the Bluesmobile in the movie! Come on! If it's not a '74 Dodge Monaco then don't try to pass it off as something else. Least that that's my version! Good try, but I'm afraid it won't fly with me!

This guy must have taken a few hits from the nitrous bottle in the back! As all of you know, the jump car from the original film had the 440 package, and only a one gallon fuel tank, in case things went bad. I wish people would do their homework before making such claims.

That is a "Mega Destroyer", from the movie "Megaforce".




There was an original for sale, not too long ago, on eBay.

It sold for pretty decent (ie: low) price, from what I remember.

Although... there may still be some hope that they exist somewhere.
The "Aykroyd kept a Bluesmobile" was actually dis-proven, right here on the site.
So perhaps the "Bluesmobiles were crushed" is in fact misinformation as well (?)
