today i had the biggest problem i ever had with my pc... no it didn't crash. but i deleted with accident al my movie's and tv shows (aaaaaaaaaaargh), now i recovered the most of them with my old external hard drive, but some i had to recover with a program, now that was the problem if i clicked on a clip (queen-bohemian rhapsody and some others) i get spongebob to see, and because i don't have them on my old external i have to download them again.

now what was the dummest thing you ever did with your pc?

*giggles at Leo*

Or saved yourself the expense by getting Linux. ^_~

(Let me just point out as I say this: Every OS Sucks. I just spent today doing a full reinstall of Ubuntu 9.10 after Gnome randomly decided to stop working, and nothing I could do could restore it to working condition. I'm still not entirely certain what went wrong, and if it was a result of my making tweaks to the desktop theme last night...)

My silliest error? Hmmm, quite a few. Up to and including fiddling with a piece of software designed to find deleted partitions, and managing to screw up the Master Boot Record. My only choice to fix that was to simply install Linux as my main operating system, because Windows couldn't find its backup partitions, which meant it couldn't run a factory reset (nor do I have a copy of Windows Vista -- something I particularly loathe and curse in computer shops nowadays: they'll sell you the computer, but never ever give you the OS on a disk, relying instead on partitions and backup discs made by the end-user!). What a nightmare. Howandever, I've gotten used to Linux from months of use, to the point that I'm uncomfortable on Windows computers and find it difficult to get reoriented on them *sheepish grin*.

Did you empty the Recycle Bin too? If not, you could restore them from there.

I'd have to say the stupidest thing I ever did was when I had a pc on a desk and I was sitting on my bed across from it, I flicked a hair-band across the room, the metel part of it hit the plug and it sparked and slightly exploded. It looked cool at least.....

try using a free program called Recuva (do a google search) or go to Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

this should be able to retrieve files should they go missing or get deleted by accident
