Can someone explain the fender turn signal on this '74 Monaco (the fact that its lower on the fender and has a white lens that isn't on the bluesmobile)? Was it an individual option, or something that came with an option package?

I took this pic from this youtube video
YouTube - 1974 Dodge Monaco w/ 79,222 original miles (For Sale) on Ebay
that I got from this post
http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/bluesmobiles-sale/8475-usa-1974-dodge-monaco-4-door-indiana.html

The interior has fancy wood trim. Was that an option (maybe something that came with the "strange" turn signal)?

thanks,
arthur

It a cornering light that would come on when the signal is turned on , part of a royal Monaco higher end options , same as the wood trim . That Monaco also has the vent window option too .

Thanks Mr Mercer. I see from
http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/bluesmobiles-sale/7366-usa-1974-dodge-monaco-new-york.html#post83745
that
> Also there were no Royals in 74, that started in 75.

and it shows production figures for
DM41 sedan 4dr 9,101
DH41 Custom Sedan 4dr 12,655
DP41 Brougham Sedan 4dr 3,954

This car isn't a Brougham (since the door panel doesn't have that pull-strap and the fuel tank access door doesn't have backup lights).
But maybe its a Custom?

I see that the Custom on this page:
http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/bluesmobiles-sale/6299-usa-1974-dodge-monaco-wisconsin.html
post #7 has the regular turn signal.

Maybe this "funky" turn signal was an option for regular sedans, Customs, and Broughams? Maybe "wood trim" was another distinct option for regular, Customs, and Broughams. Maybe it was automatically included in the Custom or Brougham lines. I started another thread about that here:

thanks,

You can see it here, in the 1974 Monaco brochure, as an optional addition on the Brougham.

And, there is actually one up for auction, right now:

It's incredible how many options you could hand pick on a car once upon a time.

Thanks for the info, TK.

It does indeed seem there there were tons of options that could be selected (like this car's cornering lights and vent windows).

If I understand correctly, all Broughams had door panels with pull-straps and the fuel tank access door with integrated backup lights. So we know this isn't a Brougham.

Is there a way (in general) to tell a Custom from a regular 4-door sedan?

In other words, if someone made a Bluesmobile from a Brougham there would be some immediate and obvious differences. Is the same true if a Bluesmobile was made from a Custom?

I'm trying to get handle on what the different trim levels mean, as well as learn about some of the option differences available on all trim-levels.

thanks,
arthur

To close the loop, this question was answered (for a 1975) here
