I was wondering,
has anyone done a recreation of the police cars chasing the bluesmobile? There seems to be plenty of royal monacos out there to make one with. I saw a picture of one on bluesmobile.net (or .org) I cant remmeber, and the site doesnt seam to be around anymore.

I know there were 2 kinds of patrol cars, the first ones with the yellow stripe, and the chicago cars with blue stripe. think it would be pretty cool to accent your blumo

If i did one i think i would do one with the yellow stripes

The "Yellow striped" cars are the Illinois State Police cars:

http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/bluesmobiles/5339-police-decals.html

There have been recreations of both...

The Chicago car was created by a member of copcar.com (and a part time member here),
but from what I understand, was sold years ago.

I'm not sure who created the Illinois car, but it has been spotted at the NYPD museum show..

thanks TK, i was pretty sure they were illinois state cars. but wasnt a 100% sure.

Like i said i saw the car in the second pic, at that bluesmobile site. but wasnt able to find it today.
Cool pics though, thanks!

now that i see some pics, i take my previous statement back.. the chicago car looks awesome! and would look great behind a bluesmobile!

Another possibility might be the Wauconda, IL police cars.

They were seen at the Palace Hotel and crashing down the embankment.

I just threw the movie in to check, are those the cars that are just white with no stripes? I see some of those. But i mostly see the yellow striped cars (illinois state police cars).

Those are the ones.
All the cars (without stripes), that crash the guardrail, are Wauconda squads.

Here they are at the Palace Hotel...
(The door logo reads "Wauconda Police", with an Indian head logo)

Hmmm, what happened to bluesmobile.net ? I couldn't get in either.

:-?

I agree, Zac, I've also wondered that with so many nice affordable Royal's around, why there aren't more CPD or ISP cars, clones or what have ya. We see a lot of sedans that would look better than a '75 Chevy hardtop.

If I had to choose one I'd go with the CPD. I like the blue stripe.

I gotta tell you the truth, ive watched the movie MANY times.. but only noticed the two squad car types.. Now ive noticed them all. thanks again!

Usually im more watching the bluesmobile for referance, then the cop cars.

Yea steam, im kinda miffed about bluesmobile.net. I liked that site, and all the photos, and info.
But hey, im glad im not nuts in not finding it.. i couldnt remmember if it was .com, .org, or .net.. i was going crazy looking for it. lol

Then did a google search, and the link to the site didnt work.. ;)

that link is awesome! i like the 73 fury, and the "roll over" display truck.

It is only a prototype right now.
I need to make a few alterations and get some better decal material, before the final version.

It was a Dukes car.

Right now, the door logo.. and the little piece of tape underneath it, are covering the old graphics.
Once I have the final decals ready I will properly remove them.

I think that car has been mentioned around here but I can't remember for sure. Was it absolutely determined that it's a Cook County car?

In Crook County,it is the Sheriff's Police that do evictions.Gotta do some digging to see if the squad is accurate.

Top one.. Yes.
Bottom one.. No.

I considered it, but it is a bit too cartoony, and the font is a bit off.

I've also been given the ok, by the WPD to take a photo of the vintage logo.
They have an old door decal, in a frame, hanging in the foyer of the department.

I'm going to go check it out and see if I need to make any more changes.

I like the top one better. The headdress seems more detailed.

It's in a vid from 2001, following the HoB Fury on Lower Wacker. It's not really all that exciting a video.

Here is a picture from the 1999 Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show back when it was held in Rosemont:
Posted Image

I am driving BB2000 movie car #66, followed by Vic Longman's '74 Monaco (now owned by show organizer Dave Weaver), being chased by board member Greg Reynolds in his '77 Chicago PD Royal Monaco and board member Tony H. driving the Mount Prospect '74 Monaco.

Posted Image
This '86 LTD is the car I am working on now. I hope to have it completed for the CEVS, but it will be at the show finished or not.

Also, those photos of an Illinois State Police Royal Monaco are of Dave Weaver's old car (has a new owner and now has New Jersey State Police decals). Dave made the car as a replica of Trooper Danniels and Mount's first crashed car from The Blues Brothers. He picked car #70 because he was born in 1970. When building the car, I STRONGLY urged him to make it #55 ("55 we're in a truck").
