between you and me...iago is my favorite character!
the play revolves around iago's [if i were evil, i'd call it a] masterpiece of a plan to earn [what he feels is] his "rightful" place as othello's second-in-command. he plans to do this by telling othello that desdemona and cassio are having an affair together. iago does everything to achieve this goal, from describing vivid hanky-panky experiences between cassio and desdemona to pretending to help roderigo, a former suitor of desdemona's, win her back.
