Hey,

I have a big big problem.
I'm now 7 weeks(and 1 day) in a relationship with my Girlfriend.(Wow , what a wonder)
, I'm really happy with her and everything is good,
BUT,
theres one BIG BIG Problem.
She hates The Blues ... The Blues Brothers ... Everything. She loves Hip-Hop(:???

When i talked with her about music, i said: "You know I love you, but have a very sh*t taste of music my dear. Eminem and 50 cent and all these "musicians" are bad. You should listen, like me, to The Blues Brothers or minimum to music, that I also like. I mean, I respect your music."
Then she told me: "I also respect your music."
HAHA
We talked and talked and talked and talked ......
Then I said: "Baby, can i show you just 1 thing?
Jennifer: "Sure"

I showed her the thing on the 25th Anniversary DVD(thanks again Steelbreeze) ... The Video clip with Danny and Jimmie performing I'm Ready and Hard to Handle...
We watched Hard to Handle ... But then the man inside me spoke words, I said(and i looked to the tv): You see my dear, they are so great, "THEY ARE MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OF YOUR SH*T MUSICIANS"
and after i said that, i thought, when i look at ther now, she will kill me :D
And i looked at her, she had an evil face, like  .... And i sang: I"m ready, ready as anybody can be .... ohhh
HONEY HONEY, I'M SO SO SORRY.... but that was it ... No words changed for 2 Minutes.
I apologized a lot, i thought, please dont leave me because of that.
But the end of the story,
She hates the Blues, she loves me, for me, its okay :D

Dean^^

Tell her the truth:

The Blues is the roots.....the rest is the fruits.
I got everything I need....almost...

She has every right to be pissed off at you.

Respect is "Honey, I respect your tastes, but I think they are sh!t."
Disrespect is "Your music is ****. I am awesome, you suck." Your comments to her, as you have just relayed to us above, fall into this category.

There is a big difference between helping her understand the roots of hiphop in blues, and grinding your opinion in her face. That is arrogant elitism. You have every right to believe that blues is better than something else, but in the end, no genre of music is actually superior to another, so long as someone, somewhere, likes it.

Takk nailed it!

My ex-fiance, from Tennessee, called the blues, "A bunch of whiny n***ers."

When we were in the Bluesmobile she would slink towards the floorboards when anybody recognized the car with a thumbs up or a shout of praise.

Fifteen years younger than myself, she liked Kid Rock and other forms of noise generally found amongst Hillbilly Savants. Country proved to be our neutral ground.

She did do me a favor when she had her affair with a New Yorker, of a particular Spanish persuasion.
I'm sure she's now much more contented listening to Reggaeton...which she hated too. :)

Oh, and as a side note, Gracie loves the Blues and riding in the Bluesmobile..!

The problems? Or the women?

And be careful what you answer, since I have a good comeback, either way... :)

Ok Blue. You asked for it...

I'd prefer women's expansion to men's shrinkage.
