Oh by the way, Hoodoo Zombie magic and floating up to god??? That kind of s*** would not have flown 30 years ago.

... uhm, need I point out the original movie had, "Do you see the light?!" Which is possibly just as cheesy as floating up to God. Or what about the Penguin being able to float, and doors opening and closing without being touched? The Hoodoo Zombie magic has its counterpart in the original in Cab Calloway and the band suddenly being transformed into wearing white dinner outfits (plus, you deny the Hoodoo, and you deny something that has been sung about in the Blues. There *is* magic and mystery out there... Robert Johnson's little "pact" with the devil, for example.) The first movie also had a magic car that did backflips and awesome jumps, powered by being stored underneath the Chicago Loop.

I mean, to each their own, but... "Try not to be so negative". *g*

Though, to get back on topic -- my favourite part is Elwood's pep speech. He's not just talking to the band. He's talking to you and me, the fans, and musicians who are watching the movie:

"You may go if you wish.
Remember this: Walk away now and you walk away from your crafts, your skills, your vocations; leaving the next generation with nothing but recycled, digitally-sampled techno-grooves, quasi-synth rhythms, pseudo-songs of violence-laden gansta-rap, acid pop, and simpering, saccarine, soulless slush. Depart now and you forever separate yourselves from the vital American legacies of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Jimmie Reed, Memphis Slim, Blind Boy Fuller, Louie Jordan, Little Walter, Big Walter, Sonnyboy Williamson I (and II), Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson, Elvis Pressley, Lieber and Stoller, and Robert K. Weiss.

(Duck Dunn: Who is Robert K. Weiss?
Tom and Steve shrug)

Turn your backs now and you snuff out the fragile candles of Blues, R&B, and Soul, and when those flames flicker and expire, the light of the world is extinguished because the music which has moved mankind through seven decades leading to the millenium will whither and die on the vine of abandonment and neglect."

Okay, so the original had some cheeziness to it. BUT that was gourmet cheese, compared to the 50 cent can of processed imitation cheese food product.
I do not deny nor affirm anything refered to by and in the Blues genre. I was simply commenting on the extreme of campiness BB2k goes to. And there is a very big difference between Quick-Change and Zombie possession!

I like the rant about the Russians, concluding with Mack slapping him on the back and saying. "Thanks, I feel much better."

I loved this part, when the Russians were reading the letter that Elwood wrote after MAck and him tied up the 2 guys in the alley, "Signed, the Masked Avenger."

i'd have to say, the most memorable quote of the movie has to be Elwood's Green Onions positive motivational speech.

the funniest though the honours have to go to Duck when they are in the Blues Mobile & Elwood says "that's it... she's bone dry" & then Duck says "i'd like to be, let me outta here!"
