Well, I've just had a bit of a hard-drive catastrophe.
Not a clue what happened. Tried to load up my machine this morning and it couldn't find the operating system. Something got goosed somewhere in the MBR or partitions, I guess. *Scratches head*
Oddly enough, Windows refused to work, even after I tried factory resetting. *Frowns* First time, the thing spat out an error about being unable to create a partition, second time around, it was able to, but the software didn't load properly.
However, Linux appears to be working just fine -- I've installed my old love, Ubuntu, onto the machine, so we'll see how it goes.
Now comes the tricky part of trying to remember all my old passwords! =P
~'Logica.
Ouch.

*snorks softly* I don't think anybody likes it when it happens. ^_~ Nonetheless, it happens. At least Linux is working now.

Here's my Windows-story:
Windows worked nice the first 2 years... Then when i did a Windows Update, my pc wouldn't start properly again...
I reinstalled the the OS and it worked nice for two days. Then I got the Blue Screen of Death every 5th minute.. I rolled back the system... Works nice for three days. Then i get the Blue Screen of Death AGAIN... I'm glad i got a bootable Ubuntu Linux drive....

Yikes. Sounds like my old PC. That used to bluescreen on a regular basis.
My laptop never once bluescreened: instead, I always ended up with really obscure and difficult-to-fix problems. :3
This said, Linux can be hard to work with now and then as well -- I've had segfaults before, resulting in having to kill -9 on the apps in the question. Some of my problems have been sheer user error, though, such as that time I tried to disable pulse audio and sent myself to audio hell. One migraine and reinstall of PA later, and I was positively swearing off touching console again until I was more comfortable with Linux. *Grins sheepishly*
