Downchild Announces 40th Anniversary Tour With Very Special Guest Dan Aykroyd aka "Elwood Blues"

Welcome to the Downchild Website

Quote

It’s time for Canada to celebrate their own legends of Blues! And when one thinks of blues music in Canada, the first name that springs to mind is DOWNCHILD. It’s been 40 years since Donnie “Mr. Downchild” Walsh and his late brother, Hock formed the renowned group that would be the inspiration behind the world famous Blues Brothers and DOWNCHILD plans to celebrate their anniversary in style, with some very special friends - including blues brother and movie icon DAN AYKROYD aka Elwood Blues . Opening on the tour is COLIN LINDEN who will be performing both solo and then with the band. JAMES COTTON , WAYNE JACKSON OF THE MEMPHIS HORNS as well as JONAS , BOB WALSH and NANETTE WORKMAN will all make guest appearances along the way.
Colin Linden was a guest on the HoB Radio Hour last Sunday and mentioned he was touring with Downchild this year. Elwood said he was going to be at one of those shows so I figured it would be Toronto. Turns out Elwood will also be taking to the stage in Montreal and Ottawa as well! Woo-Hoo! There's no mention of Zee, although they were all on stage together in 2005 at Casino-Rama.

That would be cool. Maybe even a DVD! :BB:

Montreal - The Metropolis ? Concert Hall in the heart of Montreal ? Rock, song, tour, international artists
They don't seem to have the concert listed yet.

Ottawa - Downchild Blues Band | National Arts Centre

Toronto - The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall
They don't seem to have the concert listed yet.

I guess they're still ironing out some details. The sale date for tickets for the Ottawa show has gone from Aug. 7 to Aug. 17, and now I'm seeing Aug. 14.

;)

O.O I totally agree with you.Seriously like a year or so ago there was a Blues Brothers concert or Georgia or Virginia or someplace and I was like: O.O I'D DIE TO SEE THAT.And then if anyone notices when they do commercials for Myrtle Beach there's a Blues Brothers impersonation show there

My gosh, that is so cool! I would give almost anything to go to that *sigh* Maybe we'll get lucky and there will be a CD or DVD made of the concert.

I think it's something like 22 cities on this tour. Elwood will be there for 3 of them. For those, who for reasons we won't discuss, can't cross the border ... there is one American show although Elwood isn't slated to be there ... ya never know.

If you want to see Downchild Blues Band for free this weekend they are playing on Sunday Night September 6,2009 in Beautiful Downtown Burlington Ontario Canada at our Rib Fest. But I am looking forward to seeing Elwood play with Downchild. When the Blues Brothers played in Rama in June 2009 Mr. Downchild showed up to play a couple of songs with the band.

Here's a great article from the Canadian Press ...

"There would be no Blues Brothers if it weren't for Downchild," Aykroyd said matter-of-factly.
