Hiya Beth. I've been trying to learn those songs too. I think the best bet would be to ask FatJim, he seems to be the local guy to ask for stuff like that. What I've been doing is litening to the songs and then trying to copy the sounds. It works for me and then I get to add my own improv as well.

Well I'd help if I could...

Thing is there aren't many tabs around. I remember a while back I did an audio lesson on the intro to Flip Flop Fly and posted a lengthy tab too; that was hard work! The harp is often mixed quite far back in the live tracks so it's hard to hear what's going on clearly. Also there is no way I could ever tab the John Popper stuff on BB2000!

I've never really been a fan of tabs anyway. IMHO the stuff Aykroyd does (not Popper) is pretty easy to emulate once you know how to play in second position (cross harp). If you don't know how to play cross harp then all the tabs in the world aren't really going to help. That's where you should concentrate your efforts. If you can play cross harp, then remember it doesn't have to be exactly note perfect. Dan's improvising afterall... I doubt he'd play things exactly the same twice over himself so why get overly hung up on learning the solo the way he played it at such and such a show.

Last night I went through all the BB albums and checked the harp keys, I'm 90% confident that the list is correct. Knowing what key harp to use is half the battle, once you have that, you can play along and work out a few of the licks you hear.

Having said all that, this is another topic that requires a couple of sticky threads - one for tab requests and another where people can post their own tabs.

Sorry - I wish I could help more...

Sad thing that I hadn't thought to do that. I was thinking too much on playing right :BB:.

I started to learn that so on this way. It was easier to do that. I mean with that ONLY Blues Brothers songs, not "full lenght Harmonica songs". There"s a good website with full tabs, may you know that site 3LWOOD.

Welcome to Harptabs.com - HarpTabs.com

nice greetings

Thanks Dean, I hadnt heard of that site before. I am definatly going to check it out!

Yeah, I only have BB songs that do harp, I go down to the train stationn by my house and play there when nobody else I around so they cant yell at me for playing loud. I copy the harp and do a little bit of improvising.

I often played in my room, but my mum says: "Be silent, its 11:30 p.m.!!"
