the only person that would have been perfect for the role was John Belushi (Joliet Jake Blues) he is the only person that would have made the film better and fit the role.

True, no-one could or can replace the great John Belushi.

But if you're talking about today, as in after John's death, then I really see the only person fit would be his brother, Jim Belushi.

I dont agreed John was the best but Jim is realy good
When I see Jim I see a litle bit of John
So I m happy that Jim is a Blues Brothers and I think

Jo Jay_Blues,

I listened to a few songs preformed by Bruce Willis and I must say he's very good. He also play's the bluesharp which is rock'n roll! It wouldn't be a same to put him in a black suit with a pair off Ray Ban and let him preform together with the new Blues Brothers.

Well and John Goodman isn't such a bad musician so replacing him would be to bad .

Okay nice post thanx!

The best choice for to replace belushi would have not to replace him.
create a new member with a different persona and not try to make a cheap copy of a great entertainer. New characters are the way to go
let Elwood bring them in a make them Legit.. (Like with Joe Morton)
great way to bring in a character a little history there and it worked good best call of 2000 by far.......

hortonbluesman is right, John Belushi gone, we should remember him by ourselver and i think he should be reminded in the 3rd movie. I am not sure about Bruce Willis as one of the Blues Brothers..he is famous and people remember him from Armageddon or something...but he also starring in Sixth sense which i like very much. I don't know if Bruce will have good begining as Blues Brother.
And i wanna know if the 3rd movie is really in preparations?
i mean, who is a director, Aykroyd will starred there?

Bruce Willis? Hey, that would've been pretty cool. It would have been something new, and that's good.

I woud have been very comfortable with Jim Belushi, and he really should have been in it. It would have felt right. But the best reason why he should have been in it is why he wasn't. He wasn't in BB2K because he was doing another film, and that movie wasn't very good at all. He really missed out for a stupid reason, and this movie would have been much better with him in it (and better than the other movie he did, too).

I think Bruce would have been a good choice but, in the end it had to be all up to Elwood as the other person said. I may not always agree with what Elwood does, I am a Blues Brothers purest and love Jake and want my BB to stay that way but I understand the show must go on.

Never heard Bruce WIllis sing, so i can't say. And even though no one single human being could replace John Belushi, John Goodman and Jim Belushi (as "Mighty" Mack and Zee respectivly) are adequate., IMO.

Obviously a point's been missed in a few of the posts, but I'm going to consider that the question is "Since John Belushi has passed away, other than John Goodman, who could play Elwood's sidekick?"

Well, like others, the obvious answer is Jim Belushi.

I do not agree with Bruce Willis. I've never liked him as an actor. I don't think Bill Murray or, really, any of the SNL gang over the years--except Chris Farley, but he's dead now, too.

I also agree with everyone, no Bruce Willis as Elwood's partner, but as a guest at the opening of some HOB, or a guest at some kinda fund raiser gig perhaps. John Goodman was on Jay Leno the other night signing his motorcycle he's putting on eBay to raise money, and Leno said something about the Blues Brothers, but "Blues Brothers" was the only thing I could make out.

you know, on 2nd thought I think Bruce could have played a roll in the movie. I wouldent want to replace the dude who played cab nor John Goodman but they could have thought of a roll for him. Bruce is not much for singing but he can whale on that harmonica. but he could get someting done in that movie. you know that movie could have been really good.
