Bluesmobile Reunion 2010

I mentioned in my other post (Nathan's Bluesmobile) that we have a huge show in Western PA in June which features well over 2,000 cars annually with a mile long cruise lane. Close enough for our Canadian cars to join in as well. And though Chicago is a travel, I kinda agree that it would be worth it simply for the locations.
So, if we can nail down a spot I'll work with you guys to get it put together - 2010 is approaching quickly.

Does anyone happen to know how to reach the organizers of the Chicago EVOOA show? Perhaps they might be gracious enough to allow us to piggyback a gathering on the event. It would be super if we could also reach Dan and invite him for an appearance. I remember reading that the Alabama Blues would even be willing to play a few tunes. Don't know if that is still the case.
I have a friend who goes to the ChicagoLand show each year. I'm gonna mine him for some extra info. I like the idea - let's make it happen. See you guys in Chicago.

If EVOOA works, that's great. Otherwise, I would think that you could probably piggy-back with any number of "Classic Car" shows, or something like that.
Really, you want to piggy-back with any event that is ALREADY getting permits to close off the streets for a parade. If you think about it, the permits and advertising would be the biggest hassle and expense - and what would make this prohibitive - so if you can ride on someone elses' efforts, this could work!
Good luck!

Each event has a contact number and e-mail for registering. Nothing in Chicago, but don't limit yourselves... the point is to get it going, then to build from there.

If I get my Monaco up and going by then....and I should... would be interested in getting together with you guys...if i can get off of work that week, of course!

That's probably the best way to get your request into Dan.

I was under the impression that there's an emergency vehicle show in Chicago every year. Bluesmobiles have run the driving course at times. ChiTownJohn in his Monaco, Neums in his BB2000 Crown Vic, #66 (for sale).
The home-base for the reunion should be in Mount Prospect. :D The bar in Mount Prospect, "Blues Bar" might host a night of food and beer for the reunion. They have a Bluesmobile IN the bar!
Cheaper hotels, too?
Thanks for getting the idea going again, '76! Keep 'er rollin', rollin', rollin' ...

Also the Blue bar might like to participate in some thing like that but they have no real parking fo anything like that, unless those slot spots on that street are reserved, maybe, but a half block up is wree in full sight of all Mount Prospect Traffic is the Metra train lot, the Mt Prospect Chamber of coomerce has through all summer The Bluesmobile cruise night's, again can be found by doing a search, all it realy is is a car show 1 time a year they have the police and emergency vehicle night when they bring their restored monico out as well. But if we talked w/ the Chamber of Commerce guy he may schedule a all Bluesmobile night, but then again all you have to do is show up early enough and you get a spot. Maybe Greg's friend Jerry Anderson w/ the restored CPD Monaco would come as well, I'm sure he would.
Myabe at a long shot I can get something goin at Navy Pier, where we just get to park our cars at the east end, (nice picture's) and advertise for a mini BLuesmobile show for an afternoon.
I'd try and go anywhere my self, but if it's Chi' Ill try and help. I goota think a bit, maybe I can come up w/ another Idea. Maybe I can get the Pier on a charity thing, people take pic's by our cars and donate a buck or two, something cheap and easy, and we give the money to someone, just a thought, kinda would make it a mssion wouldnt it? Ha!
I by now means want to run this but if ya need help, I'll do as much as I can. If anyone likes the idea's or has more tell me what you have in mind.
Maybe even a day w/ a few event's would be cool, meet downtown early for lower wacker, wells street, navy Pier, then on to Mt Prospect for the car show there, they start around 6pm. All just thought's.

I was talking to a friend of mine, by the name of Ken, has a 91 CHP Crown Vic and has taken it to ChicagoLand several years in a row now for the show you mentioned. He did tell me that they have a movie car section within the show and that there is usually a Blumo or two there. That will most likely be the starting point. He also gave me contact info for CPDGreg and for Dave Weaver. I'm gonna try to talk to them by the end of the week and see what may be possible for us to do.
Soul Man, keep saving up those buku dolores for that ticket. We'll keep a spot open for you.
ChiTown, I've volunteered myself to be the frontman on this, so no worries but I will definitely be seeking your sage-like wisdom from time to time. I have put together parades here in PA for over a decade. Organizing permits, traffic, people and advertising are nothing new to me folks. I'm just looking forward to seeing Blumos invade Chicago like never before.

The Chamber of Commerce fellow there may be inclined to help something like this as he runs the show. Again only a half block from The BluesBar w/ all the BB stuff inside and car on balcony.
He may be able to be reached by doing a search of Bluesmobile Cruise Nights, Mt. Propsect. He knows me, and seems to enjoy seeing the car as usualy I'm the only one that shows up. well w/ a Bm. always been strange to me cause I know there's many around here, at least a handfull.
I think aug 1st sat' is the CEVShow, not sure.

NOW this is exciting!
It's frustrating when people just talk about conventions and get togethers, but really don't have a plan. It gets our hopes up, but nothing happens...
But, to see someone with lots of experience taking it on is so encouraging! :D
Just let us know what we can do to help... keep up posted!

So Like it's real easy to just leave the CEVShow, and I still stayed late enough to hear all the awards and trophies being given out. then left on interstate 88 and got to Mt. Prospect I think w/ in an hour easily. It's a nice cruise.
I'd like to think that if we do this someone can get a Hold of Lance Dobersek, Ive tried before through a friend of his who posted a little vid' of his car on You Tube, but to no help.
The Video I'm sure you've all seen is "There's a Bluesmobile in my Driveway" or "Lances Bluesmobile"
Ive seen this car and it's complete w/ detailed rust spots on correct area's dent in fender, crooked antenna, it's the best replica Ive seen up close, so if someone else wants to try and get him in on it, that would be great. He lives in Racine Wi. or did, met him once at NAvy Pier, nice guy.
Keep her goin, like to see this. Steamer any chance you can break away, I need a copilot/ Jake! I'd help for you to get here as much as possible, make sure you got a place to put your head to keep it cheap. I'd even help as far as I can. Your a big part of the info and comradery on this site, I'd hate to see you miss anything that might actualy go down. PM if ya like. Later!
