Hey B.B.'s brothers and sisters. Just wanted to let you know that the B.B.'s Band played at the Inauguration for the new congress members ball at Charlie Palmer's Steak House in D.C. Suffice to say that we rocked the congress, and were we LOUD! Well, it's a small room with a low ceiling. Har!
I also played the HBO Special "We Are One" on Sunday. A lot of my friends saw me on MSNBC shaking hands woth Obama. I said "Pleasure to play for you." and he replied, "You cats sounded great!" The president says "cats"! By the way, Stevie, j.T. and Garth Brooks were all killer to work with. Jennifer Nettles too.
For any of you North jersey dudes, I'm playing with B.B.'s guitarist John Tropea's band at Trumpets in Montclair on the 7th. Funky.
I'll be back soon keeping you "deformed" later, Blue Lou

Thanks for the post Lou! :D
Politics aside...isn't it great to have someone in the White House again with a great taste in music?
Ask some of his predecessors what kind of music they listen to..."Oh I like both kinds. Country AND Western!"
And he's a BIG Stevie Wonder fan!
Keep us up to date man, hopefully some of us live close enough to catch one of your Jersey gigs :D

(Interview with Obama) What's on your iPod? When I was in high school, probably my sophomore or junior year, I started getting into jazz. So I've got a lot of Coltrane, a lot of Miles Davis, a lot of Charlie Parker. I've got all the artists we've already talked about, but I've got everything from Howlin' Wolf to Yo-Yo Ma to Sheryl Crow to Jay-Z.
Keep us up to date man, hopefully some of us live close enough to catch one of your Jersey gigs :D

Thank you for the info, Blue. ^^ Congratulations on getting to shake hands with and perform for this nation's political people. ^^
I'd love to see you perform someday in the NJ (seeing as I'm a Jersey girl myself) and what's more, I'll probably be going to college somewhere in this state. Hopefully, I'll see you someday ^^

Hello Mr. Marini,
still a great pleasure to hear from you.
I just found this clip of you playing with Steve Wonder at "We Are One" and it looks like you really had a ball.

That's one hell of a funky tune, no wonder Obama was dancing!
Horns sounded tight, exactly how a great horn section should :D

Very cool! Congratulations, Blue Lou, on meeting President Barack "Cool Cat" Obama! :D Up here north of the border we're very much in tune with American politics. I can't help but think about the last time I thought an American President was as cool as cool could be. Although he wasn't President just yet it was when I saw Bill Clinton on the "Arsenio Hall Show" in the early 90's. I'm pretty sure he was wearing Ray-Bans and was belting out Heartbreak Hotel on the sax. I guess Bill will be remembered for other things but at the time I thought it was pretty dang cool!

Thank you for that link, Flashcomix. Great stuff!
Regarding the inauguration itself, I saw on the news the other day that an estimated two billion people watched it. TWO BILLION!! Approximately one third of the entire population of the planet. Amazing.
Thanks again, Blue Lou. Does "Charlie Palmer's" serve pepper steak? lol.
