Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the entire group as I will be spending quite a bit of time here. I have already read hundreds of postings. I had heard about Huey and the cars he makes but never where to find him (was only told Florida). Now I know which website he calls home. I remember seeing his 74 for sale, and the CHP 74. Wish I had been wealthy enough to get Huey's car though. If I had been King Arthur, his car would have been my Excalibur!

The name is Nathan - AGE 29 - from Beaver Falls, PA. I have a 76 Monaco turned Bluesmobile (the black paint hides the rust well or course - this is Western PA) and thanks to all of the amazing pictures and information on here, I will be updating the appearance of my car to look more authentic. My star for one is extremely incorrect. I will eventually be in the market for a few things to complete my car - spotlight (any clue which one was used?, pushbars (I think I can make my own), front clip from a 74 and rear quarter panels (I know - sheet metal is near impossible to find).

As for now, I am enjoying the attention the car gets and the new music it plays. I just had the single exhaust ripped off and a true dual (no crosspipe) with glasspacks put on. I paid $1,500 for this car from the original owner's estate in 2002 and it had only 29,250 miles on the original 2-barrel 360. Car has about 60,000 now. I did the paint job in my backyard with a drill, sanding discs, rust converter and protector, and primer, satin white and satin black paint rattle cans from Wal-Mart. The satin gave it just the right "dull" look. I NEVER wash the car either. I dyed the vinyl top (was too good to pull off) - total cost - about $175. I also did all the decals myself with homemade stencils. Any assistance you can offer (parts, tips, etc...) would be greatly appreciated and I hope you guys like the car.

Hey, Nathan! Welcome. Great intro! :BB: Your '76 Bluesmobile is a beauty!

I have heard of this Huey fellow you speak of, I haven't met him although other members have. He seems to be a nice boy, yet makes a lot of racket at night. lol. I guess you noticed the Bluesmobile Huey sold on eBay for over 10 g's, not too long ago.

Welcome, Dude! All your questions have been answered in the Bluesmobile forums. Looking forward to seeing ya around!

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words on the car. I'm glad you like it. I'm looking at putting together pushbars for it, but I also need a spotlight. Anyone happen to know which one I need and where to find it? I found some great pics of fantastic looking pushbars. I intend to build mine to be functional.

Also, now that the Pittsburgh Steelers (my favorite football team) are headed to the Super Bowl on February 01, 2009, I may temporarily cover over the star with a Steeler logo and cruise the car like that. By the way, I have come pics of my car with another 76 Bluesmobile (a 2-door) from nearby East Liverpool, Ohio cruising together in a 4th of July parade last year. Turns out, these "Blues Brothers" felt I went into their territory and they have a grudge against my car and I. Well this year, I have new glasspacks on the car and am looking forward to riding again. Besides, blues music and the blues brothers have no boundaries. It is all truly American and it is all about the music and culture.

Again, thanks for the welcome.

Maybe I'll go there to this year , how far is it from Detroit . We can make it worse with more bluesmobiles . He was probably mad you upstaged them.

Nice car, Nathan, and welcome!:BB:

There's tons on info here, and lots of good folks here, like Steam, Elwood, et.al., to help if you need it! They are the best around, bar none.;)

Note about Huey: I've met the venerable Mr. Huey, and in fact bought my Bluesmobile from him, and I can vouch for his integrity and boundless enthusiam for all things Bluesmobile...he did me good. If you don't want to build them yourself, he's they guy to get your screen accurate pushbars from (as soon as he gets them back in production), and he can answer any question you may have concerning those particular cars. I know that he's been busy of late, but I'm sure he'll weigh-in here before long.:BB:

If I'm not mistaken, the spot light you need is a 6" Unity, which can be had from eBay all day long...that's where I'm getting mine...;)

Again, welcome!
Rob

I always say the more the better when it comes to Mopars. It would be quite a drive though - about 250 miles spanning about 4 hours. It would be great if there were a place for Bluesmobiles from everywhere to gather. The only place I know of that a couple go to is the Emergency Vehicle Show in Chicago. My friend takes his 91 CHP Crown Vic there. The event I attend is on the 4th of July - a great day to ride. If anybody feels like making the journey to Western PA in midsummer, let me know and I'll organize a get-together.

Thanks Rob for the spot info. I'm looking forward to making contact with Huey soon. I came across vids he posted when he was selling his car - it sounded great.

Depending on what happens between now and then,I may take you up on that.http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum2/public/style_emoticons/default/icon_cool.gif

I'll even overlook the part about the Steelers.....:BB:

The 4th of July parade I mentioned takes place about 15 minutes from my Beaver Falls house in Midland, Pennsylvania. It is a fantastic event and I was extremely well received last year - hence the love from my blues brethren in Ohio.

But if you like large events, there is an even larger show that takes place right in Beaver Falls. On the second Saturday in June (June 13, 2009 for this year) is quite possibly one of the largest annual car cruises I know of in the Northeast. It is the Happy Days Car Cruise and the annual attendance for this show has ballooned to approximately 2,500 cars (and growing) and tens of thousands of spectators annually. The cruise lane itself is a full mile long in each direction and cars from all over the east coast come to ride it. The cruise officially begins at 1:00pm and lasts until 9:00pm, but the rule of thumb has become to be in town by 7:00 or 8:00am. The town is usually pretty full by 10:00am. Several clubs make it a point to participate, including a Jeep club, Mustang club, Corvette club and even a Delorean club.

Anybody who wants to gather - I'm up for it. I'll even provide the dinnertime food and drinks at a local park where we can gather and take pics of our cars as a group before we all seperate. I think PA is about halfway between Florida and Canada. Any thoughts?

By the way, thanks Bismo for the thumbs up. I'll keep you guys updated with fresh pics after the snow breaks here.

Hey Nathan,

Monaco looks great, great to have you here. I saw your pic on thebluesmobile.com if I can be of any help let me know. been doing Bluemobiles since 1984 "didn't get my own until 1989 though" Not as long as Bismo but close I think he had one in 82' if memory serves me right.

It's fans like you that keep me in this hobby. I thought of getting out a few months back, but now I am more into it then ever. Don't know why just happened that way. Well I guess after I sold my 69 Hemi Charger, and 68 Road Runner I had to get back in the swing. Once you have a Mopar you are hooked be it a E,B,C,A,R,D,F,J,M, body etc!

best regards,

Huey

Yup, Shotgun and I got our first Monaco in fall of '81, she was Blues-ified by summer of '82. Ah, the things we did with that car! We're still hoping to get another one, much as I love m Mark II.

Awesome stuff guys - thanks. This car is going to become my daily driver once again. I've had it since 2002, stopped driving it since March 2006, and now am ready for it's re-birth!!

Hey Huey, I don't know if you might have a spotlight laying around I could buy, but that would be great. I have heard a Unity S6 is the right light, but I have no clue if a particular shaft length is needed or where exactly to drill in the A-pillar to mount it. Unity hasn't returned my e-mail on that. I'm also trying to find a source for the front clip and front quarters from a 74. My brother is working on the pushbars. Oh yeah, about that - any idea where to source the rubber bumpers for the pushbars? Seems the bolts were molded into the rubber - nobody sells stuff like that.

Thanks again guys. I'll keep posting pics as I make changes and updates. Hope to someday see several of them gathered together.

Here I am - finally back after a couple of months. My computer went down and it took forever to get it put back together, plus we had a lot of snow recently (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States) which has nearly set an all-time season record which made travel almost impossible at times. My Monaco had actually gotten buried under at least 16 inches of snow!! You'll never guess how I got it out from under all that - I fired that baby up and drove it out!!!! Even after sitting for nearly a month, it started right up and that small 360 shoved that awesome ride into a nice clearing - and I did it dressed as Elwood of course!!

But that is not why I am writing today. I am writing to put out the word that within the next 30 days, I will be placing both my 1976 Dodge Monaco "Bluesmobile" and my 1974 Chrysler New Yorker "Bluesmobile" up for sale. This is quite possibly the hardest decision I have made in a long time, but it must happen. My asking price for both cars together is going to be $4,000 together and I hope to sell them as a pair. If they don't sell together, the Monaco will either be parted out or sold for $950 and the Chrysler will be put up for $3,000.

Now that my computer is back up and running, I'll be filling you guys in on everything that cars have had done and what they feature that you'll benefit from and I'll be posting pics on here so that you'll know my prices for the cars will be fair and that I'm not trying to snowball anyone. I have tried to maintain myself as an honorable human being and wish to see this hobby flourish. Eventually, the cars will get posts in the Bluesmobiles for Sale section when they are ready.

As of now, this means I probably will not be able to bring a Monaco to Illinois for the Bluesmobile Gathering unless something else happens and I'll cover that "something else" in the next couple of days as well. Keep yourselves updated on this potential Bluesmobile parts gold mine I'll be releasing soon - I hope that I can help someone realize their Bluesmobile dream despite the fact that I'll probably be losing mine.
