My first was a "Marine Band" that belonged to my grandfather.

Still have it, still love it.
One scary soul band as mean and righteous as a fist.

My first real one (not the toy tremolo harmonicas that I played with as a nipper) was a Lee Oskar in the key of A. I tried a few other brands, but I still like 'em a lot.

Besides the toy tremolo harp (really, did every kid have one of those damn things?!)...Hohner Special 20 in E and G -- interestingly, my two LEAST-used harps!

Wow, I found interesting how all of you had proffesional harps as your first harp! I learned with a cheap chinese harmonica, and later I bought the blues harp standard by Hohner. Now I use some blues harps, some special 20 and, my faves, the Lee Oskars.

( I think it´s more than 20 years old, but still have it )
Now I use only "Hohner Bluesharps" and "Hohner Marine Band"

First was a Hohner Blues Harp, Bb... around 1981 I believe! Though I've mostly always played with Special 20s since then (mouth was just never comfortable with the wood). I may still have it somewhere, I had "ELWOOD" engraved on it in teeny tiny letters... don't think I'd let it touch my lips after all these years though! (Shotgun Blues had a Zippo lighter with "Joliet Jake" engraved on it.)

I started with a Hohner Marine Band, some time in the 1970's. Then moved to the plastic combed instruments in the '80s, like the Special 20s. Now I've moved back to wood. I play custom diatonics, made for me by Neil Graham in Australia.

My first harp was a Marine Band and after it went through a thorough cleaning in the washing machine, I up-graded to a Suzuki Pro Master. Now I like playing the Pipe Harmonica.
