I've noticed on my posts and others that when we link an animated GIF from Photobucket (or where ever) that we need to click on it (where it opens in a new window) to get it to 'work'.

For instance:


This image works in the composer but not when it's posted.

Not that I've tried but I'm guessing that wouldn't work on our avatars either?

There's a way around this

Basically whenever you post an image using the IMG tags, it replaces it with a thumbnail (to make the page load faster).

If you want to deliberately bypass this, use IMG2 (can be found on the Advanced Post Editor under SIG IMG).

Put the URL of the image in your post, highlight it and press "SIG IMG" and it will automatically wrap IMG2 tags around it.

Like so:
[img2]http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff312/The_Blueblood/Felsts/484951qxq0rxykvi.gif[/img2]

You CAN do animated avatars, however it looks like you can't upload them here. You need to host them externally (on imageshack or photobucket etc).

Instead of uploading a custom avatar, use Option 1 and "Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website".

I successfully used this image just now:
