Did a search; couldn't find anything...question for ya: What are you guys and gals doing for sideburns? I'm genetically sideburn-challenged, so I can't grow any worth a darn...do youse guys use glue-on fakes of any type?

Blues sisters don't necessarily need them.

I personally don't bother with sideburns. Dan made plenty of Elwood appearances without them. They are only essential if you're trying to duplicate the 70's/80's look.

That's what I thought....but, I'd like to have a pair for the occassion when I actually do that look (which is what I'm basing my costume on)....hmmm...I oughtta be able to get a pair cheap after Halloween (and the spirit gum, too)!:D

I think it only fair to warn anybody who plans to get glue-on sideburns that some of the tribute guys around here frown upon that sort of thing.

I think it's usually a quality issue: doesn't look realistic enough.

i use felt and double sided tape.
i used some velcro to really wear down the felt make it fuzzier and more see thru. it looked pretty realistic.

I once had an Elvis costume where I made my sideburns out of the same material as my fake leather, star studded cape.

I taped them to my sunglasses so they would hang down.

It was absolutely cheesy and quite hillarious.

But that was the look I was going for.

I've never tried to grow them for a few reasons:

I have an area between the hairline near my ears and my shave-line that has remained smooth as glass for as long as I can remember (partially covered by my glasses) so,it wouldn't look good if I did grow them out.

My natural hair color doesn't match,so I'd have to dye those as well.

My wife hates them. (although,I'm pretty sure she'd make an exception for the sake of "the look"http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum2/public/style_emoticons/default/icon_cool.gif)

Shaving is enough of a pain in the ass as it is,no need to add to it.

BTW,wouldn't the glue-on types be painful to remove?
I got everything I need....almost...

"I was growing sick of rock and roll, it was starting to bore me...and I hated disco, so I needed some place to go. I hadn't heard much blues before. It felt good."-John Belushi

(Still inspiring me--and knowing me like a book)

Anyone ever painted them on? Like with the Halloween greasepaint crayons? I did that for the album-only soul patch, but I couldn't bring myself to attempt full sideburns.

I sure wish I could grow sideburns. If I could, I would definatly have them!
I do usually have a soul patch however, but I shaved it off recently. I am currently in the process of growing it back. Lol!
