otis and aretha are playing at the same time on the same night at different venues, who do you go to see?

Otis.
For me he is the pure incarnation of soul.
In contrast to Aretha and other great soul artist he was able to stay away from mannerisms in his singing style as his career went on. Maybe because it was so short. I don't know but Aretha has the problem (also voice problems right now), Solomon Burke (even if he still does a hell of a show) and James Brown.
Listen to "I got dreams to remember" and tell me who yould do it better? No one!
In fact the story to this song is very great.
His wife Zelma wrote it for him. When he heard it he was making jokes about it and said tht it wasn't a very good song.
After his death when Zelma and Steve Cropper went to all the recordings Otis made they dicoverd that he recorded it for her. It was suposed to be a birthday gift.
Listen to the song it's as pure as soul can be.
