At last, I have photos of my new pride and joy! It's a Framus Tennessee Custom, built to my specs by the Framus Custom Shop in Germany and sounds fantastic, so much so, that I may order another one from them. Different model of course :BB:

And for the technically minded (anoraks) of you, here's the spec:

Mahogany body with flamed maple top with high-polich amber stain finish.
Ovangkol neck with tigerstripe ebony fingerboard.
Custom mother-of-pearl inlays and scratchplate.
Seymour Duncan SH1 pickup at the neck and SH4 at the bridge with 3-way switching.
Bigsby B7 vibrato.
All metalwork finished in gold.
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "F*** ME, that was BRILLIANT!"

The action is the best I've ever tried. Far better than my Fender Strat or my Gibson 335 and it's consistent right down the neck. Speed is like lightning. I'm now looking at possibly getting another of their guitars, the AK 1974, which is a full-on semi-acoustic jazz\blues guitar. You can look it up on their website at www.framus.de I'm going to hold out until next June's London International Music Fair though, because they're bringing one along for me to try. Oh, and I'll have it customised, of course ;)

Thanks CHris. It was made probably not very far from you, in Bavaria.

AK1974 is very Les Paulish. I like the Custom Shop #082...

Look like very quality builds!

See, I just can't have nice things.

They make great sounds breaking!

It's actually quite deceptive in the photos. It's a lot deeper bodied than a Les Paul and a lot more mellow because of the hollow body. The build quality on all of their guitars is absolutely flawless every time, unlike some of the near horrors I've seen and heard about from the Fender Custom Shop.

#082 is partcularly nice, but I'd have to have something just a little different. I don't like having a guitar that anyone else has got - that's just me being vain though! :D

LOL! Never mind Syd. Musical instruments don't always have to look good, it's how they sound and how they're played that counts. I'm just vain, I'm afraid! :BB:

I maybe wouldn't go quite that far, but they are certainly inconsistent. You can certainly get some really well finished guitars from them, but I know of quite a number of people who wouldn't go back to them because of poor finish and poor setup. Why, are you thinking of buying from them?

When I got my Framus, it came with the name and signature of the luthier that finished it, so if I wasn't happy it could go directly back to him. That makes a big difference.

Not me, I recommended that we pool the band's (my band's) money and get our bass player a new bass from there. Thought she'd like it. We'll see.

joking, of course.

Actually, I do like their bass guitars a lot! I'd say she would most definitely like it. Go for it!:BB:

LOL! I must confess I do have a strat too though and love the range of sounds I can get from it.
