Just something to speculate on.

We know Frank Oz was in both films as a prison warder & that he also is one of the main vocal characters in the Muppet show, but is it just me or do you reckon that the Muppet sax player "Zoot" was based on Blue Lou Marini?

Another avenue of exploration into this mystery is that there may be another muppets connection (although i can't be sure as i'm not in America & we don't see many SNL shows over here) Jim Henson i believe also worked on SNL in the days of when Lou was in the SNL band.

Thoughts please.

Jim Henson used to do muppet skits for SNL featuring different characters that weren't part of the Muppets lineup. Oz I believe voiced Olmac (the giant stone head/idol) in those skits. And it has been stated Zoot is a combination of Blue Lou and I think at least one or two other famous sax players.

Zoot was around before the Blues Brothers picked up on Blue Lou as a sax player. If I had to choose someone other than Blue Lou, it would be Zoot; and if I had to choose someone besides Zoot it would be Blue Lou. If I had to choose someone other than either of them? I'd quit listening to music! :)

My two favorite bands are The Blues Brothers and The Electric Mayhem!

It's interesting that Animal often is depicted playing left handed as does Floyd, as well as Kermit (when he has his banjo).

I believe this is because Jim Henson was left handed too. (but I could be wrong).
One scary soul band as mean and righteous as a fist.
