Very sad to lose the man behind so many of our favorite tunes and artists.

Here's a playlist of Jerry's songs that he was the most proud of:

Oh man! What's happning? Why are they all leaving us?
Jerry was (and still is) the man. Without him Aretha would still record corny showtunes for columbia.
We own this man a lot of music history. A real Soul Man.

He was the man who brought Sam & Dave to STAX and introduced them to Isaac Hayes and David Porter. I shudder to think at all the music that would never have been without him.

Sad to hear that but he had a plentiful life - for our great joy. What kind of music would we be listening to now if he had not been here, along with Ahmet Ertegun and people like John Hammond, to name a few ?

The saddest is that we'll most likely never see the likes of him again. At this time, record producers and record company executives had ears, they loved music passionately and were willing to take risk on an artist. Now they are just here for the cash and will sign only bankable artists (or so called artists...) This is the real misery of our times.

Hey, maybe they're setting up a Heavenly Atlantic where they are, along with Ahmet... for all the artists already gone ? With all the great artists dead now, that was needed probably. I'm joking but that thought is just comforting to me, a way of saying that men may die but their music lives on.

He was a visionary but I didn't like the way he handled the Atlantic deal w/ Stax........
One scary soul band as mean and righteous as a fist.
