My wife and I were in bed Saturday night, and as the news was going off, they said "stay tuned for SNL." My wife asked, "what's SNL?" I was shocked! I explained to her about Dan and John and the early day. All of a sudden, they showed the original pilot episode, in honor of George Carlin, who was the first host. It was great seeing everybody again! You could tell it was the first episode; they hadn't found their groove yet, but it was still edgy and fun. I miss the "not ready for prime time players!"

The pilot was great. Some of the humor was a little less obvious, but I enjoyed it more than a modern episode.

Do you believe they showed this one because of Carlin passing away? I was super excited to see this episode!

I finally got around to watching my VHS recording of this historic episode. I'm glad NBC showed this episode as a tribute to George Carlin. He was really funny.

One thing I noticed was that there wasn't very many skits. Also, they were quite short, with the exception of Dan as the "home security" guy. That was great!

Not much time for skits when ya got two music acts, that do two songs each. Two comedians. 3 stand-up routines from George and a film by Albert Brooks. Plus 'Weekend Update' which I don't consider a skit.

Billy Preston rocked the house both times. Great energy. Janis Ian ... wow ... what a freak. LOL! What a voice but holy crap she looked sad, or out of it, or somethin'. Still, I found her hypnotizing ... beautiful.

It was really amazing to see that show in it's entirety. Laraine Newman actually looked like she was a healthy weight. Gilda = Gorgeous. Overall, an excellent show!
