Lucky Strike

The gun wasn’t even loaded. But he was doing time in Joliet Correctional Center, anyway.
“Forget the singles… gimme the twenties!” he remembered yelling at the clerk. “And a pack of Lucky’s!”
He didn’t even want the cash. That was to pay the band’s room service bill.
“Figures….” Jake mumbled. “Three to five for Budweiser and greasy burgers.”
Joliet Jake sat back in his bunk and rolled his eyes.
He should have made it. Had he left the store five seconds earlier, he would have. But he was waiting for that clerk to put down that lousy pack of smokes.
