Hi, I want to know who had troubles sending a letter to Dan. I send one to him with some info about a project I got in mind, and the agency send me back the package. Doesn´t matter, but the thing that bother me was that they didn´t send him a few presents I did for him! Also, I send a DVD cover if he could sign it but, in the letter the guys of the Agency told me that they

"recieved your undated letter...requesting MR. Aykroyd autograph the enclosed DVD cover. Please be advised that we cannot help you with your request"

So, why somebody have a reply from Dan and to other people these guys doesn´t want to do anything for the fans?

Well, join the Club. You are probably one in a million other fans who wants something signed, heard or seen. Dan is all over the place and pinning him down to do even a dozen of these things would be next to impossible. I too, sent off a couple of letters to different sources requesting a schedule of when Dan would be at a close HOB so I could get my Bluesmobile's dash autographed.
I was met with crickets chipping and a lone dog barking in the background...

Bottom line:
He's a businessman with a business to run. Sure, he knows he has a fan base that keeps his pockets full but I'm sure he also assumes we'd be understanding...

I am. ;)

I know he´s busy, but I think it doesn´t hurt sending a few presents for him. I would try to give him or as for an autograph in person but I´m far away... Also, some people had a reply from him... If you can´t send anything to him, why Creative Artists have a Fan Mail for him?

Hmmmmm...good point. I went to the Wikipedia site and he's not listed...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Artists_Agency

or...

http://www.caatouring.com/Public/ArtistRoster.aspx?RosterCategory=Corporate

Or at the William Morris Agency...

I dunno.

Send an e-mail to Brian; he might have some ideas.

I tried sending a larger package once (not to the CAA address, a different one I was able to use several years ago that is no longer valid) and it was returned with your standard "return to sender" type stamp. I figured either the address was no longer good, or they don't accept fan mail packages over a certain size as a safety precaution.

I sent a letter to CAA (c/o Fred Specktor) a few years ago, about 4 or 5 months later I got a reply sent by FedEx from Canada, the mailing slip was signed by Donna Dixon personally (she sent the letter).

In 2004 I called CAA and spoke to the manager of the Blues Brothers act (as in Dan and Jim, not Dan's agent), he was a nice guy to talk to on the phone!

When I saw the Blues Brothers with the Sacred Hearts Band last year, I was very disappointed that after the show Jim Belushi had stuck around to meet us all and have picture ops with us, but Dan was nowhere to be scene...... and I've heard this exact thing from anyone who has seen them in the last...... year or two! What's up with that? It was a pretty big motive that pushed me to see them live... not that I regret it, the show was excellent, but I wanted to meet Dan and shake his hand!

Just had a package returned from Creative Artists Agency also. I had tried to send a letter with a gift for Danny. =\

In order for Dan to accept your salutations & free gift, you must first purchase a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka.

It's in the small print...

I don't get it..why slag him?

He is a great guy and gives so much of himself....

If you were to think about an artist receiving 100 requests a day for their attention and he spent 5 minutes on that..500 minutes ...hmmm isn't that his day is gone...try that...who could get anything done.

We really won't ever know how much work he does for everyone.

Blueblood was being sarcastic, it wasn't a serious comment :)
We all know and appreciate how much work Dan does, all you have to do is watch a video of him at a wine signing, he doesn't just sign things, he actually talks to everyone properly! Everyone who has met him has praised him for taking the time to speak to them :)

Dan went above and beyond replying to my letter a few years back, I'm sure this just means there is an issue at his agent's end.

Maybe someone could give CAA a call and find out if there's a new fanmail address for Dan? I've called them before and spoke to the manager for the Blues Brothers (as in Elwood/Zee), he was not the same guy who manages Dan, but he was very helpful and friendly.

Amen to that. Blueblood's humor helped to make me smile, 'cause we know that it's not true, it's just him being silly. I wouldn't have it any other way -- I'm grateful that he made me laugh, 'cause otherwise, I would have been bummed out for the rest of the day.

(On the upside, it gives me another chance to redraft my letter -- I wasn't happy with the first one, anyway).

Nyo, I heard from a friend, when I told her yesterday about the return to sender, that there are two other addresses for fanmail. I'm regarding them with a pinch of salt, since you seem to know the agency, BB. Might be worth getting them checked out?

Yes, let's get to the bottom of a new fanmail addy issue. I'm curious myself, even though I haven't sent anything in....wow, three years maybe? That's a stretch for me. :)
