What may be the legal issues fro tribute bands or impersonaters and such? Is anybody going to come after you for performing as the BB's?

That is an excellent question. I was wondering the same thing. My guess is, like anything else, as long as you stay small and local they won't bother you but if you try to get big and national they'd come after you. 'They' being Universal who owns the rights to BB.

But I'd love to hear what anyone else has to say on the subject.

Anybody gotten sued?? Any 'cease and desist' letters??

Beacky: Do like I done, buy the hat, the shades, the suit and a legally issued and bought karaoke cd.

Once this is accomplished, practice to said karaoke cd. Find a venue which hosts karaoke, clear the day beforehand to practice, on the day of the gig, dress up and take your legal karaoke cd with you, as long as it's a legitimate cd the KJ will not have a problem putting it on for you.

As long as you sing the track and enjoy yourself, you'll be asked questions like "What made you do that?", "Why do you wear a suit?" etc etc.

I'm fortunate that I live in a small town that is familiar to-an-extent with the Blues Brothers, although I'm the only one insane enough to dress up :}

If in the unfortunate circumstance that a venue providing Karaoke is not available, then I would suggest local talent shows or - like another member on here has done - sing in a church :}

Regards,

Yickle.

Universal only owns the rights to perform as the Blues Brothers at Universal and something like a 100 mile radious around the area can not have any other BB except private functions and The House of Blues. You can't use the NAME Blues Brothers. You can be sued if you do. I think that they took all of the BB types in the Chicago area to court before they put the show in there. The Belushi Estate owns the name...as well as Dan A.
