This Week's SNL

Tonight is the lovely Halifax, Nova Scotia born, Ellen Page. She played a 16 year old in Juno, but in reality she just turned 21 a little over a week ago. Her star rose fast. I'm hoping everybody has most of the cobwebs dusted off and will give us a funnier show this week. Musical guest is Wilco.

I forgot to mention about last weeks show, did you see right at the end when they brought the cake out for Don Pardo? Can you believe he's 90!!! :o The way he was clowning around and blowing out the candles, like a man half his age. Fantastic!

Last nights show was excellent! Ellen seemed a little nervous at first, understandable, but she was quite good. She semed relaxed by the time of the Boleyn Sisters skit and she was awesome. Should have given her way more dialogue in that one.
Hillary Clinton, in her cameo, actually appeared attractive to me. Is that wrong?
The Digital Short was hilarious. So wacky, I loved it.
I thought Wilco sounded really good. I'd never heard of them but I can see them being a good live band. The lead singers Gibson guitar, it seemed like a big guitar to me. A beautiful looking guitar.
The character Fred does during Weekend Update is really, really funny! He is good.
Lots of great stuff last night, top marks for an excellent show.

I liked alot of the sketches, 'cept Hillary (the heck is wrong with you Steam!! I'll drive you to the hospital) really.
I felt like Ellen was really in the background alot of the show, I like the Digi Short and the Etheridge one (the last one.)
I've been really dissappointed by the music acts lately (not suprising.) The first guitar he was playing was an SG. The second was something else...
All in all, I think SNL has settled back into the pre-strike funk its been in for years. So much potential, all blown.
joking, of course.

I agree with you on that. It's like I mentioned about the Boleyn Sisters bit. I felt like she could have just blown everyone away there, if only given more dialogue. That should have been her big skit. Definitely potential wasted there. Dang funny though.
So ummm ... anyone else watch SNL? Would love to read some more comments.
The next two Saturday's will also be live. I think it said Amy Adams is the next host. I'm gonna have to google her. I may have seen her in something but the name draws a blank.

I thought this past show was pretty good, it didn't seem dragged out forever like some of the past year's shows. I thought Ellen Page was great, once she settled in.

Amy Adams and Kristen Wiig really could be sisters.
I liked Weekend Update, for some reason Tim Calhoun continues to make me smile.
Saw the superhero beating coming in the digital short, although the intensity of the beating was a tad unexpected. LOL!
For a band named Vampire Weekend, them was some pretty clean cut lads.
Is Maya Rudolph still on the show? I can't remember if she's still announced in the opening credits. I don't recall her being in last weeks show either.
Meh ...

I liked Tim Calhoun and the last sketch...but that was about it.
I decided I liek the featured girl alot. She's really good.
Vampire Weekend, despite the cool name, sounded like the Police Xeroxed about 1,000 times. No good. Kinda like they skipped over the original reggae artists and went for the cheap Police-style imitators. But I like the Police!
I don't think she's on there anymore Steve...sorry.
joking, of course.

He's the guy on the left.
Janet Jackson was supposed to be the musical guest, but she got *cough cough* ... sick. So Mariah Carey will take her place.

Agreed, it was solid. I just watched it tonight on tape. I prefer to watch live but at least I could zip through the commercials.
Jonah Hill is a pretty funny guy. He owned the restaurant skit. "I'm 6."
The Digital Short was outrageous. I'm pretty sure the guy who played Andy's dad is a former cast member but I can't remember his name right now.
Weekend Update was really good again. Great to see Tracy Morgan. "Bitch may be the new black, but black is the new President, bitch!" LOL!
The singing duo ... spaceships, toddlers, model T cars, and jars of beer. Hahaaa. Wacky stuff.
Lots of good stuff. Mariah?? Is that even really music? It doesn't sound like music. It sounds like someone lip-synching to computerized noise. Did nothing for me.
It was all good. There were only two MacGrubers that I saw so not too bad. There's been shows with 4 or 5 MacGrubers, that started to grate me. The way the 2nd one ended made me laugh.
That's enough reviews, if anyone missed it last night, watch for the repeat of this one. Lotsa laughs. I think I'm in love with Kristen Wiig ... dang, did I just type that or only think it? No way of knowing ... I guess.
