Just something i think must be said... i'm always wary when i see these ads or auctions for items "as used in the show / film" because often the items are just sold as regular items, but adding an mpressive statement or claim to bump the price up.
I could put one of my old black suits on ebay & claim "genuine Blues Brothers suit - as used in the film" - technically it's not a lie (it's a black suit of the same style to one used in the film.. OK it's not one of
the suits), but you just know the saps will think it probably once belonged to Jake or Elwood & some sucker will buy it.
I'd sooner see some proof with the item, such as a certificate to prove the fact or some hard evidence such as a reciept or invoice from Universal studio's or an inventory label inside that reads "J. Belushi costume prop" included with the sale.
Over here in the UK we have a very popular BBC TV programme called "Only fools & horses" (you probably get it shown in the US & Australia as well) one of the main features of the show is they use a 3 wheeled van painted yellow, made by a company called "Reliant" yet you often see numerous ebay auctions for yellow 3 wheeled vans with claims "as used in the show" & even some bars have replica vans displayed on the roof & claim "our van was one used in the show" yet the van they are selling or have on the roof of their pub is a tottally different model to the one actually used.
The original van is a Reliant Regal supervan 3, the fakes are often Reliant Robins or Rialto models, which are Reliant models which came along 10-20 years later.
e.g. the genuine article..
one of the many fakes - often sold on auctions etc as "genuine" (just shown as an example - not for sale)
