I found it.

Somewhere in the great depths of my office, I found an original copy of a Saturday Night Live Book, edited by Anne Beatts and John Head, printed in 1977.

This is classic stuff guys. I will try to get some scans for you.

The cover features Generalismo Fransisco Franco as the Host. (He's still dead, guys, just in case you were wondering).

The book is chock full of old skits, photos, and all sorts of treasures.

Here is a page of the bees. King Bee photo is left center. There is a great Bee version of The Honeymooners below it. (Get it? Honey-mooners?) John Belushi as Jackie Gleason.... classic stuff.

Sorry for the bad quality. Photos just don't come out clearly. I will try to get the scanner hooked up.

I think there is a pretty neat story, also, about how we got this book, but I wil have to confirm it before I post.

Well, as long as I don't wind up violating copyright issues, I will scan as much as I can to share!

(By the way, Blue. It's just Jo. My last name, however, really is _Pierce. And do you have any idea how hard it is to file tax forms with a "_" in your name? *sigh* :))

It's funny that you took a pic of the bee page. That's the one page I scanned a few months back.

Yep! Love it! Reading it last night I laughed so hard! What a great show, and a great era in that show!

And of course I took a photo of the bees. Who doesn't love the bees? I remember when those bee antennae became a fashion statement. Just like Steve Martin's arrow through the head.

Oh. I miss those times...

Did you already have a thread on this? :) I didn't see one.

Well then... if you have a copy, too, you can help in the scanning duties, too! ;)

My copy of the book first appeared in the thread of stuff members have collected. A very cool thread! Here's the pic and the link ...

Cropper Classic was the only one to ask me about the book.

Then there was a Bee thread where I scanned that particular page ...

Your point about copyright issues may be valid. I'm not sure about scanning bunches of pages to post here. I certainly don't mind doing it. But ... one more red card and I get the boot.;)

I've been meaning to look around eBay and Amazon to see if I could find it for sale. I think I'm feeling the motivation to do that. *burp* Oops, heh ... it was just gas. I'll still take a look for it.

Well, certainly we couldn't scan the whole book... but I am sure when the time comes, bits and pieces would be appreciated here.

I mean, all we are doing in creating demand for it, right?

All the cool kids have got one... right Steam? Hot cha cha! *wink*

As I recall, the maximum amount of a copyrighted work that can be posted as a sample is 10%. I don't always recall very well, so don't quote me on that.

I actually just bought an old copy of this book off ebay. It hasn't gotten to me yet, but it looked like a good book, so I'm excited! I love early snl.

Considering the number of Star Trek fans here, let's start with this one.

It's a page of the script from an episode where Belushi plays Kirk.

Final Captains Log is scanned.

I agree 100%. Definitely one of my all time favourites. Chevy was hilarious as Spock!

Each cast member has a full page pic with funny bio. I scanned Dan's because I love the Canadian reference. (it's a big book, tough to get a good scan without too much bending)
