Okay, so I want to write a BB fanfic, but I don't know what the story should be. I want it to involve them having to not be able to accomplish what their goal in the story is, and having to hook up with another band and do a concert with them together. What do you guys think? What should be the reason that Elwood and Jake and their band would have to play live together with another band?????

It's so hard to say. I mean, it's got to be your ideas, otherwise, it isn't your story to write. If that makes sense.

If we tell you what the plot should be, we are just issuing you a challenge...

"I challenge you to write a story about Jake joining the Underwater Bareback Polo Team at Harvard, while at the same time Curing Cancer."

Those challenges can be fun, but they are not necessarily your own stories....

One thing I see a lot (and have done myself) is that people get good ideas, but they don't know where they are going, so the story ends in chapter 2, right when the plot starts. It's nice to know where you are going before you post chapters. Otherwise, it dies.

My advice is to start writing it in bits and pieces. MAybe a scene full of dialogue here and there. If you are not sure where it is going, don't post it. Hold off, maybe circulate it privately. Then, as you write more freely, things will come. You'll see how people interact. You'll see how you write the bros. You may think that the one character you threw in last minute may actually be a good character... etc etc. And the beauty of computers means if it doesn't flow, you can delete. Or you can go back and insert 5 pages before such and such scene.

There are a million and one reasons why two bands can get together to play. Choose one, and run with it.

I'm happy to bounce ideas off the wall with you.

Jo has said what needs to be said here. I think you should decide what band they will get together with, or at least what type of band. Is it another R&B band, or something on the other end of the spectrum? Then figure out why they are getting together, and by then you should have some ideas for some parts of the story.

hmmm fan fic idea- well here are some thoughts (i am a writer so here goes)

they can find a band; but that band is coming from say europe; they need room and board paid in fulll; elwood and jake need to get this $$ and the rooms for the band. this band could be a really great "R & B" band and they want high class instruments; so the bb's have to take care of this; and throw in somewhere along the line elwood might run into wiggy again or a girl. maybe?

it is always a challenge to have in the storyline far and hard things for the characters to accomplish and you the writer have to decide if the characters will accomplish or not.

That sounds like a great idea, but I dunno how it's gonna work, because it's another american group I was planning on making them tour with.

There you go, that's progress. Now you need to decide what type of music the other group plays. You can write your fic however you want.

Remember - the operative word for fanfic is not SHOULD, but COULD.

It's all about having fun with it! Go where the mojo takes you!

There is no right or wrong here. Some people prefer things to be very traditional or very accurate, others like things a little wilder. The whole point is to go with it and tell the best story you can!
