Good Morning!
Who is the man running the "Build a Bluesmobile" on Ebay? Can anyone tell me about him? Is the price he's asking reasonable?

Hey Shotgun blues, that guy is me. I have seen other dudes do the same thing with the General Lee and Christine, so I thought I would give it a try with the Bluesmobile. I have sold 2 so far, so I think it might do pretty good. The hard part of course is keeping the Monaco's in stock. They get harder to find everyday, but they are still out there. If I can build one for you let me know.

Take care,

Huey:BB:

Thought that might be you, Huey! Mentioned it to Shotgun on the phone tonight and though don't know if it's the right time financially, definitely recommended he pursue it with you when he is able.

Huey,
Can you tell me about the '74/400 in your stable right now? I had a '75 as a kid, with the same engine combination. I currently run a '75 Gran Fury Custom with a 360.

Right on, Huey! Very cool what you're doing.:D I knew there was a market for General's but I didn't know people were building "Christine's." I actually loved that movie. I would have figured there would be more interest in a "striped tomato" from Starsky and Hutch. Well, maybe someone is building Starsky Torino's. I don't recall ever seeing one on eBay, then again ... I wasn't looking for a striped tomato. lol

Good luck, Huey. It sounds like you'll always have a customer for a Bluesmobile.

:(

Now that we know it's Huey, I think we can feel a little more comfortable about this. As someone who doesn't have the skills to do any work on a car, I think the cost is justifiable.

Thanks Scott for endorsment, I love building Bluesmobiles and I hope that someone on here buys one. I would love to see a real enthusiastic Blues Brothers fan get his dream car. I know how I felt the first time I found one, so I can only imagine what it would be like, hell I still get excited when I see a 74 Monaco for sell or on the road. Take care.

Huey

Thanks Steam,

I have seen the Starsky & Hutch Torino's or "striped tomato" as you say on ebay from time to time but not anyone selling them as a I am doing. That is also a car that I love, I have yet to own one but plan to someday.

There are a couple guys I have seen doing the Christines, and I have seen 4 different people doing the General's. Even seen a dude offering the Trans-Am from Knightrider back in the fall of 2006 as a to be built car. Haven't checked lately to see if he is still doing it though. Can't remember the dudes id.

Thanks for the encouragment and I will try and keep everyone on here updated as to the sucess of this endevor. So far it has been great. The only problem I see in the near future is my stock of Moanco's they are going fast! I have now sold 3 from this ad on ebay. I am going to look at 2 more on Tuesday a K code 440 and a regular 360 sedan my buddy found in Miami. I have no idea what they look like, how much, or what condition they are in. Just that they are 74's. A buddy of mine found them sitting in a salvage yard there and he just briefly talked to the owner of the yard.

The owner however would not allow any pics, of course another protective yard owner, i am used to it by now. I think it's fun dealing with these guys now, but in my younger days I would get mad. Today I look at it as a game. Anyone that has ever bought cars from a salvage yard will understand what I am talking about.

Now don't get me wrong I love these guys, and love going through old yards, but some of them can be real butt holes if ya know what I mean. Alright I will stop here and let you guys know what if anything comes from my trip Tuesday.

Take care steam,

Huey

Hey Bismo,

What's up buddy? I would be more than happy to take care of shotgun, I will respond to him after I respond to you. I have a 360 car that I am having brought down from KY as I type this, it is rusty rusty but has a solid drivetrain, and it is a K code car. Maybe he can afford that one, I will work with him as best I can.

Hey by the way I have my BB2K car on ebay again, just thought I would try it again. If she don't sell I will just keep renting her out and making money with her. I have a rebuilt hipo 351 sitting in my garage that I might drop in her if she don't sell. The only reason I am selling is to gain some room in my garage. It is getting tight in there, too many B&C body Mopars!

Take care buddy,

Huey

Hey Shotgun,

How ya doin buddy? The 400 car has been sold, sorry dude but they are going quick. I do have another 360 K code police package car coming from Eastern KY this week. Should be here Thursday. I bought it without seeing it and was told it is rusty rusty rusty, with a real strong running engine and tranny, but needs brake work. This info came from a good buddy of mine in KY and he has never been wrong yet on any car he has found for me. I will let you know when I get her and take pics of her. From what I was told the dude that owned the car started a Bluesmobile project and quit.

I am also going to Miami on Tuesday to look at 2 74's a K code 440 car and a 360 sedan. These cars are in a salvage yard that is being shutdown and my buddy in Ft. Lauderdale found them for me. I have no idea of the condition of these cars other than my bud's description, which was and I quote "they are rough! So we will see. I will PM when I know more on any of the three.

Take care shotgun,

Huey

If I buy one from you, it needs to be rust free, or as rust free as possible. Rust finally got my Bluesmobile, and I couldn't go through that again! Do you do the body work yourself? What do you use?

LOL, I can't take credit for that. I have Season One of Starsky and Hutch on DVD. Hutch actually called the Torino a striped tomato.

From wiki ...

Under the radio call sign "Zebra Three", they were known for tearing around the streets of "Bay City" in Starsky's two-door Ford Torino, which was red with a large white vector stripe. It was nicknamed the "Striped Tomato" by Hutch in the episode Kill Huggy Bear; the nickname was subsequently adopted by the fans of the series. However, the term didn't come from the writers - it came from a real-life comment that Glaser made. When he was first shown the Torino by Aaron Spelling, Glaser sarcastically said, "That thing looks like a striped tomato!"

Hilarious.

Is this going to be an ongoing opportunity? I noticed the auction ends tomorrow. If all goes well, I'll be able to buy a car at some point during this year, and this looked like a great deal, just not good timing for me.
