Ok... new question about a Fanfic idea... I am in need of some serious critique here.

I am starting a new fanfic. Sound good? Not so fast... Don't jump to conclusions!

It is a Mary Sue.* And I mean a BIG Mary Sue. Not a little one. Not a midget of a fic. A BIG one. I mean, I wanna even call my main character Jo...

**ducks from the rotten tomato**

I know people hate Mary Sues. I hate Mary Sues.... but this one has been screaming for me to write... And I already have 3 chapters done.

So, how do BB folk feel about it?

Jo
PS - Please lie to me and tell me you won't hate me if I write it anyway... ;)

*A Mary Sue is usually a story with an original character who is cliche, and is often really the author projecting herself into the fiction. (Marty Sue is when it's a guy).

There's a few badly written Sues in BB fic, but there's so little fiction out there that a well written one is tolerable, even embraced (by me anyway).
Just stick "Warning: Mary Sue" on it and then if people complain about it being a Mary Sue story, laugh and say "Well, DUH!".

Well, I hope it will be well written... but ... beyond that, no promises...

You use punctuation, and your other fics show the characters in character- the two things that make fic readable (for me). Give yourself a medal or other shiny object, you've gotten about 80% of other fic writers beat! :)

I just put up the first chapter of my Mary Sue.

Avert your eyes. They will sting...

I will set up another thread with the link, and for feedback.

Use this thread to talk about Mary Sues.

:)

When I feel the need to write/keep a blatant sue, I just put it in the warning, so the one thing readers can't complain about was an ambush. :D

Go ahead Jo. A well written marysue will always be better than a poor fanfic with no marysues at all in it.

For sure I'll read you.

Well, Chapter 1 is up. I will post as I can... It will be obvious sue, but not cheesy.

I hope not.

If it's bad, please let me know. I can always change things around. I want it to be good fic, even if it's bad sue.

Impossible for me to say something bad about sue-fic when I'm guilty of it myself.

Well then...

"Welcome to my parlor," said the spider to the fly.

Which is it, Scott? Is it BB stuff? I have only read your Blues to the Future so far.

I am actually writing the next few chapters of my Sue as a non-Sue. That way, I may decide to post it in another context as a stand alone, too. That way, everyone can enjoy it -anti-Sue or not. It will make a lot more sense if you read the whole thing, but on it's own, it will just be some stand alone car chases, bar fights, and Elwood on-the-road-blues...
