I have a new Blues Brothers Fanfic posted!

Without Each Other
by Jo Z. Pierce

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3973236/1/Without_Each_Other

Who's going to replace Jake, now that he's gone? Alternative storyline for when Elwood gets out of jail. In this Alternate Universe, BB2000 never happened.

Please feel free to read, review, and comment. Fanfiction.net has a new feature where I can easily edit, so any comments you want to make are still welcome!

I can see that you posted your famous sing-along 'Cell Block Full O' Blues' (got the title right this time) posted on the FanLib site !

I also checked on the FF.net where you posted your 'Without Each Other'. I encourage everybody out there to read it, real good story.

Thanks for the recommendation. I hope people will let me know if there are any big canon violations. This is a relatively new fandom that I am writing for.

My "Famous" story??

::ZOINKS!!::

Um, how'd that happen...?? It's just a little sing-a-long...

I was expecting Matt and Elwood to recruit her. Didn't expect her to volunteer like that.

Does it seem really out of character?

No, I don't think she could be outta line. On the contrary, that's the best way to keep an eye on her husband and that no-account Elwood Blues.

Now they may call the band 'The Murphy Blues Band'... oh just a suggestion running in my mind...

Hey, I like that idea... But I will probably just leave it open ended.

Now, no more spoilers! Let people read it for themselves! If nothing else, they may like the images of Elwood on the train...

Oooops! There! I'm doing it now, too!

:)

It is fine the way you wrote it, but because you asked, I will explain what I was thinking while I read it.

When Elwood and Matt were discussing the attributes/qualities that would be needed in a good lead singer, it did feel like they were describing Mrs. Murphy. I expected them to look at each other, then look at her. At first, she would have been like, "Oh no... forget it!" eventually turning into, "Well, ok." and I liked the part about it being the best way for her to keep an eye on him. Then I would have finished that part of the story with, "But I'm not wearing that crazy get-up."

Ah... that's what I love about fanfic. You can have 1001 different versions of the same thing.

Has anyone here ever done fanfic challenges? Someone throws up a very general idea, and different people run with it?

Good, I'd go for it.

There's a Dukes Of Hazzard fanfic writing site and the lady managing the place (herself a fanfic writer and a good one by the way), suggests such things :

- she posts a photo or capture from the show and writers have to elaborate a story from this ;
- she posts one or two sentences that would kick the whole thing off and writers have to develop from this point ;
- she posts a challenge around a central / general idea and writers have to draft a story around this.

We could do the same thing and get some interesting stuff written down, I'm sure.

Yes, there are so many options. I think that we should start something like this.

But, I would also like to suggest another game, that maybe more people would be willing to play - and not just the fanfic writers. I got the idea from the Greatest American Hero forum that I frequent.

I would like to suggest a Create your own caption thread...

Someone posts a photo or a screen capture, then we add our own, new captions.

It can be a lot of fun. And it's not as involved as fanfiction writing, so lots of people can play.

I'd be happy to start it, to get the ball rolling. Should I do it here in fanfic, or maybe somewhere else?
