I'm always on the lookout for information about Matt, especially after he had his stroke.

Maybe this is old news (in a way it is) but I noticed while reading an interview with Aykroyd that Matt was scheduled to perform at the opening of the House of Blues in Dallas back in May?

Does anyone have any other information on this?

I would be FANTASTIC to see Matt back with the BB band for a date or two in the future.

:-o;)

Good question, Cropper Classic. I wish I had a definitive answer for you. It seems Matt was scheduled to perform, but I don't know if he did.

I met Matt 22 years ago at a Blues club here in Ottawa. He signed my copy of BBPrivate, which a friend of mine then lost.
What a great guy Matt is. He turns 80 in a couple of months.

I guess you guitar guys have seen the model that Cort built?

Amen:

----------

The next two songs were familiar Blues Brothers classics: “Flip, Flop, and Fly” and Elwood’s always-entertaining solo vocal performance on “Rubber Biscuit” (whatdoya want for nothin’?). Midway through their two-hour set, Elwood and Zee introduced one of the true stars of the show that night, legendary blues guitarist Matt “Guitar” Murphy. He was an integral part of the original Blues Brothers Band, as well as a Chess recording artist who backed James Cotton for many years. He’s one of my favorite bluesmen, a fine vocalist and deeply soulful guitar player. Taking a seat center stage, he joined the boys on “‘B’ Movie Boxcar Blues” and Junior Well’s funky “Messin’ with the Kid.”

i got no info but thought you might like to know, i was at a blues brothers band concert in Glasgow 7 june 1991. the band were ace and the place was jumping, i was wearing a tshirt with a pic of matts head on the front, the one with the big grin! well, we were all fired up after the gig so went straight to the pub? got airlocked and crawling back to the bus we were shouting and laughing at each other, i replied to one of the lads pisstakes by giving him the "V" sign, i was in the middle of the road and as i turned around the bands tourbus had pulled up right beside me, i looked up and there was matt with the exact same big grin as i wore on the shirt!! he pointed at the garment and gave me a big wave. F*~# i was stunned and open jawed, i was also drunk enough to wave at him with my fingers still in the same salute i had just gave my mate?,,,dont worry! he just gave me the same salute right back hehe. what a guy.
