Blues Brothers - Rare Fandom Exchange

Yuletide Treasures is a holiday exchange of rare fanfiction.
You make a list of the kinds of stories you'd like to recieve from rare fandoms (like The Blues Brothers), and you make a list of what you could write. Then you are given a recipient's list (with at least one match) and you write something for them. At the same time, someone else writes a story for you... It's a surprise who you are writing for, so it can be a lot of fun!
Here is the list of the fandoms that have been nominated this year. http://yuletidetreasure.org/get_nominated_fandoms.cgi
The Blues Brothers are certainly on there! (In fact, that's how I became interested in this writing for this fanfic - although I don't do nearly enough of it!)
It would be nice if a few Blues Brothers Fanfic writers could sign up for this, and maybe exchange with each other, if the cards fall that way! It's a way to get more BB fanfic out there. By the way, they are slash friendly, but that's not a requirement.
I will be participating again this year, and will put TBB as one of my fandoms to write for and would like to recieve.
Hope to see you there! :-D

1. Do the stories have to be Christmas/Hannukah/winter-themed?
2. Are the stories made available for all to read afterwards? I sort of suspect not because of the word "rare".
I've only written one piece of fan fiction thus far, which was "Blues to the Future" published here on these forums. I have a few ideas for some more BB fanfic, and I could probably write non-BB fanfic too if I got inspired, but I would want my stuff to be available to anyone who wants to read it. Also, I would be concerned about staying motivated to finish on time, or perhaps rushing to finish on time and having the quality suffer as a consequence.

2) It's your fic, your work, so you're allowed to post and crosspost it anywhere you please. I think you have to post it somewhere in the first place (personal site, LJ, DA, FF.net, etc.) for people to read it in the first place.

Bleh.
Here I am, advertising this thing, then I don't answer questions.
I stink. I know. I do. I really do...
Life Lesson #1: Sign onto the Blues Brothers Central Forum more often. Otherwise you will stink. Like me.
Sorry.
Tak - good luck with the novel...
***
Ok. At this point this thing is closed. The sign ups were up until the 18th, and now people have been assigned their (secret) assignment.
BUT FOR NEXT YEAR...!
Yes! EVERYONE can read these stories. On December 25th, they go LIVE and all the stories from this year, and the past 5 years, are open to the general public. You can even rate and review them! So even though they are rare, they are public. The only time they are NOT public (and don't ask me why, I don't know) is between the time people are given their assignments, and December 25th. I will come back and post the link when things are up again. (Yes, I know ... right now I stink, but I will REDEEM myself!)
No! They do NOT have to be holiday themed, unless someone specifically requests it. So if you stumble on the site in August and decide to read it, it won't sound like a bunch of Santa Stories, out of season.
...and finally YES! You can still write BB fanfic outside of this context ... so if you've got a plot bunny going, jump to it!

The good news is that, finally, the archive for Yuletide 2007 is open, and there is one new Blues Brothers fanfic out there.
http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/fandom_blues_brothers.html
Just a reminder - these stories are gifts to others, based on their wish-lists, requests and interests. Also, the stories are all kept anonymous until January 1st. At that point, the authors names will be revealed.
Sadly, no one wrote me the very smutty Elwood story that I asked for on my Christmas list. *sob* Oh well. There is always next year.
There are also a WHOLE LOT OF OTHER fanfic on that site. I recommend it. This year alone there over 2000 new and original fanfics posted, representing over 700 fandoms. These were all written in the past 2 months by over 1000 authors. And they are all done as gifts to other people. This is absolutely amazing...
I hope Yuletide 2008 will have LOTS of Blues Brothers fanfic in it!

I think I may have this kind of story - smutty stuff, if I understood you correctly. I can dedicate it to you, Jo, no problem !
I've got another one, very very sad, involving Jake, if you wanna have a crying moment with them brothers...

Do you write under this name? Or a different one?
Oh, I hope people here do sign up for for Yuletide next year! There is so much potential for BB fanfic, and so little out there.
I know for me, as much as I love fanfic, I don't take the time to do it unless someone gives me a challenge or makes a request. It just sits in my head, unless someone else is waiting for it. That's why I like Yuletide. Someone is out there waiting for it.

Okay, I will post my Jake story on FF.net. I need to review it first, I wasn't very happy with the end, don't like to post stuff with typos, like to post neat stories. I hope it won't sound too much like a marysue, as it involves an OC. Well, we'll see. I'll PM you when the story is posted, along with the link.
I have posted a story entitled 'Blood Kin' and I'm writing the sequel now. But I'm facing two possible endings - I must make up my mind before posting it !
My penname is Delilah Kelley. You'll find my fanfic under that name, not that of Vinnie Blues.
You're right : the BB universe and characters have a great potential in terms of fanfic. Though the timeline set by the movie ain't that much, we can still play with alternate timelines - which I use as it is convenient. This is what fanfic is all about : we can play with it as much as we wish to, the only limit is set by our own imagination and the characterization.

I just read your Blood Kin a few days ago. As I said, I am still catching up on what's out there. Thanks for that! Very nice... very nice... I could see Elwood coming out of that kind of a **ahem** background.
Let me know if you need a beta, if you don't have one. Send me a PM if you want.

Hard-Headed Woman of Mine
by Jo Z. Pierce
Curtis once explained to Elwood that there are just two kinds of women in this world. The question is, what do they have to do with cars and music?
Rated T for language and suggestions.
I hope next year there will be a few people willing to sign up for this exchange. It's not all Blues Brothers, either.
The archive is open at http://www.yuletidetreasure.org
Have fun!

Time to think about the 2008 Yuletide Fanfiction Writing Exchange.
http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/index.shtml
Nominations are currently being accepted for Yuletide 2008.
http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/nominations/nominate_fandoms.cgi
I have nominated the Blues Brothers, but hopefully more will sign up and add it so it would appear on the list for sure. Also, if anyone wants to add any other related tv shows, films, or even real person fiction, now is the time to add your nominations!
Let's get more BB fiction out there!
