Does anyone subscribe to Sirius Satellite radio? I'm trying to find someone who can record this show for me. If anyone plans on recording this, let me know, and hook me up! Sounds like a great show...

I would also love a copy of this, plus Blues Brothers 2003, which also aired on Sirius a few years ago.
It was a radio play/concert featuring Dan Aykroyd as Elwood Blues. It takes place just after Blues Brothers 2000, and was designed to air from 11:30pm to 3:30am, so as it became new years 2003 in each time zone of the USA, the band would play. That was also the story, Elwood trying to play in each time zone as it turned midnight.
I know it's not another movie, but it's still the closest thing to a Blues Brothers 3.

Wow, I never heard of that. So was that New years' 2002/2003? Was the BB Band involved. This has really peaked my interested. Now I NEED that! Any other actors involved besides Dan?

Wow.

Dan Aykroyd / Elwood Blues Special New Year's Show

Sirius Satellite Radio, the premier satellite radio broadcaster, announced that actor Dan Aykroyd will bring his inimitable comedy and characters to life for Sirius listeners in an exclusive New Year's Eve music and comedy program, Blues Brothers 2003: A Chase Odyssey. The 4-hour commercial-free program, a Sirius original production, will air from 11:30 PM (ET) on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 to approximately 3:30 AM (ET) on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 on Sirius channel 100, The Galaxy.
Blues Brothers 2003: A Chase Odyssey features Aykroyd as Elwood Blues, who has been undercover since he went on the lam at the end of the film Blues Brothers 2000. He surfaces to play a no-name New Year's Eve gig in New York City, then hits the road traveling west at a high speed, in order to play a New Year's Eve show in each time zone. Hilarity ensues as Elwood Blues encounters assorted characters on this wild road trip, attracting the attention of local police officers in almost every municipality he visits along the way.

Fans will be treated to special live versions of songs performed by the Blues Brothers, recorded at their Sirius-sponsored performance on June 15, 2002 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI. Songs include such favorites as "Rubber Biscuit," "Messin' With The Kid," "Soul Man" and "Viva Las Vegas." Blues Brothers 2003: A Chase Odyssey also includes memorable early R&B songs by artists such as James Brown, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, and Dyke & The Blazers.

Canadian born and bred Aykroyd is an accomplished actor who first came to prominence with Toronto's Second City comedy troupe, and later as one of the original cast members of the television comedy program Saturday Night Live. He appeared with his SNL partner and friend John Belushi in the films 1941, The Blues Brothers and Neighbors, and has been featured in the films Trading Places, Chaplin and Driving Miss Daisy, for which he received an Academy Award nomination. He co-wrote and co-starred in Ghostbusters and its sequel, as well as Coneheads, which, like The Blues Brothers, was an expansion of an SNL skit. In 1998, he again appeared as Elwood Blues in the film Blues Brothers 2000, which co-starred John Goodman.

Dan Aykroyd has hosted a nationally syndicated blues music radio show as Elwood Blues, and performs live music shows with the Blues Brothers. The performance by the Blues Brothers utilized in Blues Brothers 2003: A Chase Odyssey features Aykroyd and actor Jim Belushi on vocals, Johnny Lee Schell on guitar, Larry Lee Lerma on bass, Glen Clark on keyboards, JJ Holiday on guitar and slide guitar, Anthony Braunegal on drums, Jimmie Wood on harmonica, Joe Sublett on saxophone, Darrell Leonard on trumpet, and additional vocals by Julie Delgado and John Rubano.

Aykroyd recorded the radio special at Sirius' national broadcast studios in Rockefeller Center, New York City, in early December.

Blues Brothers 2003: A Chase Odyssey was written and produced by Sirius programming staff members Rich Prior, Mitch Todd, and Ray Romano.

The time for Thurs' show isn't listed yet. The sirius site only lists their SIRIUS Sessions until this Sunday.

The 3 day trial is a great idea. I didn't see that on there. Hooray.

I have just tested the online Sirius demo, the quality is GREAT!
If someone plans on recording this, make sure you have a high speed internet connection (mine had to rebuffer ever 30 seconds, probably because I was also downloading files).

This show sounds great, but unfortunately I was unable to record the whole thing, I think there was a lot of congestion on the network and I missed out on some fairly large chunks of audio.
I managed to get the complete opening interview and at least one song, but the rest is incomplete (53 minutes minus about 10 minutes of silence).
If anyone else recorded this, it would be very helpful, even if it's not the whole thing (I can use it to patch up the gaps in the audio!)
I will post the opening interview with Dan Aykroyd on the site, I had hoped to get Sweet Home Chicago but unfortunately my internet connection had other ideas!

Damn, I was hoping someone else wasn't having problems. I recorded the show and had big problems too. I did end up with Sweet Home Chicago. I just encoded it to MP3. What address do you want me to send it to?

I was able to hear most of the show, but it looks like the recording ended up as lots of silence after the first 15 mins.

I had no sound between the slow shuffle trumpet feature and Sweet Home Chicago. Did I miss much?

Did anyone end up recording the bulk of the show?

-Shawn

Send the mp3 to admin at (NOSPAM) bluesbrotherscentral dot com
(You can figure that one out pretty easily! Just being careful!)

What I Recorded
0:00-2:00 Introduction
2:00-6:08 Your Mind is on Vacation (Mose Allison)
6:08-20:45 Interview with Aykroyd about Elwood's Blues
20:45-25:45 Unknown song (Don't know the name) (Bettye LaVette on Vocals)
25:45-26:45 Aykroyd speaking about next song
26:45-31:30 Everything's Gonna be Alright (shuffle)
This song is missing 20 seconds from 28:51-29:10, and 35 seconds from 30:44-31:18
31:30-32:20 Silence, then another song starts but don't know what it is called
32:20-37:08 Unknown song by Dave Maxwell
37:08-38:35 Elwood introduces next song
38:35-42:00 Born under a Bad Sign by Michael Hill
42:00-43:40 Aykroyd speaks about NYC Blues clubs and introduces next song
43:40-51:30 Slow Blues in BFlat.
This song is missing 1:22 from 48:03-49:25, then 0:04 from 49:29-49:33, then 1:21 from 49:39-51:02, then 0:03 from 51:04-51:07, then 0:16 from 51:12-51:29
51:30-51:34 Talking
51:34-51:44 Silence
51:44-51:54 Intro of Sweet Home Chicago
51:54-53:13 Sweet Home Chicago
53:13-53:16 Silence
53:16-53:39 Sweet Home Chicago
53:39 is the end of the recording, cuts out during Blue Lou's sax solo.

I should mention that 0:00 is the start of the silence BEFORE the show started. There is a 10 second silent break before 'And now it's time for Pat St John, on Sirius Blues 29'. The show starts at 0:11 on my recording.
