I heard in another forum today that Carey Bell has died.
He was a great player originally from Mississippi, but part of the Chicago scene. He started playing professionally when he was still underage and both Little Walter and Big Walter Horton took him under their wings and helped him when he was starting out. He played great blues on the chromatic harmonica and I'd recommend a listen to any of his recordings, but a great album for harp fans is his album 'Harp Attack' which he cut with James Cotton, Billy Branch and Junior Wells.
Another one of the original Chicago blues pioneers has passed on. Sad, but he enjoyed a long and fruitful life. Rest in peace Carey Bell.

thats sad to hear even if ive never heard of him
though when youve had a good life and made some good music (i guess:)) then its not too bad, i mean we all die sooner or later
still sad though, i mean those true artists are the last ones we got now
wont be any new for a while, if ever

Here's an album from about 15 years ago (but still readily available) I'd highly recommend for some fun blues harp jamming... "Harp Attack", with Junior Wells, Carey Bell, James Cotton and Billy Branch. Great for playing along with too!

Yeah I dug my vinyl copy out the another night after I heard the news. Great album with 4 masters of the harmonica. So sad that Wells and now Bell are no longer with us.
Good recommendation Bismo, great blues record.

Yeah, and still one of the albums with the worste cover-artwork and some of the bad dressed people (amazing hawaishirts) on it. But still a great record to listen too :D

Yeah, he was a monster. Another album of his that I particularly enjoyed was Harp Slinger, which he did with his son Lurrie Bell on guitar. I think that was the one with Lurrie, whatever, it's a good album nonetheless.
Damn right I got the blues.:BB:
