Hello All,
Nice to be back, I havent been active for a while. So I really dont know if this topic has already been talked about while I was gone, But I recently found out about this movie about mork and mindy and I see that one of the charecters in the movie is John Belushi. Played by a not so well known actor. I have not seen this movie yet!!!! but I heard some differnt opinoins about how the actor did on playing john. And I was just wondering if anyone did catch this movie and knows a little about it.
How was the movie first of all?
how well or bad was John protrayed?
Did the actor do a good job?
look like him? act like him? etc....
I tried searching for a picture of this actor from the actual movie where he is playing john but had no luck. I would like to see it. But this is something that is not on a shelf in a video store. Its an hbo movie or something. Anyone know where to get it?

My first reaction was, "They did a Mork and Mindy movie?"
But a quick look on IMDB showed that it was actually a re-enacted, behind-the-scenes TV special: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437856/
Absolutely everybody was played by an actor; none of the actual people were in it. John Belushi was played by Tyler Labine: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0479527/

I watched the entire movie on TV, last year I guess. I had no idea there was going to be scenes with Robin and John.
The lad who played Robin Williams was excellent.
The guy who played John Belushi ... well, he was an actor. I'm neutral there.
The way John was portrayed ... disgusting. I have to feel that there's no way in hell you could leave a friend in that kind of shape. Not possible. I'm talking about the bungalow scene.
There's other scenes with RW and JB interaction, but the bungalow. Actually every scene with John was negative now that I think of it. The bungalow was brutal. It sure makes Robin Williams look bad for leaving that night.
Avoid this one.

Here's photos of the actor:

He was 4 years old when John died.
An interview with him:
UGO: I also recognized you as John Belushi in the Mork and Mindy movie [Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Mork & Mindy].
TYLER: So you are one of the people who watched that thing.
UGO: So for someone like you who is a bit of a bigger guy, what's it like to get to play John Belushi? Were you a fan of his?
TYLER: I wasn't actually. I have been told that I'm a Jack Black, John Belushi type, which always pissed me off. I have been doing this since before I even knew who Jack Black was. I didn't really know who John Belushi was when I was a kid. I was more of a John Candy, Chris Farley kind of guy. Originally I auditioned for the Robin Williams part, so that lead to playing John Belushi, so then I went out and I researched him. Then I realized I really liked him and he was a really talented guy. For me what he did in the '70s is all kind of old hat now but then you realize that when he was doing it, it was unheard of. I gained this whole new appreciation for him and now I'm a fan. But since it's an unauthorized biopic about Robin Williams, I have all these nightmares of Belushi's family telling me that I should leave him alone and why am I dredging this up.

Curious Kasis:D I'm talking about the Chateau Marmont scene, where Robin Williams was supposedly one of the last guys to see John alive. They were friends, in this TV movie John is portrayed as the bad influence in Robin's life.
The scene in the bungalow is just garbage, I think. John is played as ... well, near comatose to put it politely, shirt was a mess, excessive coughing, etc.. Robin was there, the zombie (you know her name), and John. Robin left.
It would be impossible to leave a friend in that shape. Over the top dramatic, sensationalistic bull-crap. Crap, crap crap crap. sorry.
I like the fact that the actor became a fan through his research. That's awesome! Negative material, though. Not his fault.

Surely not his fault... the director or the writer are the ones to blame...

I guess he doesn't realize that Farley was a lot like Belushi in some respect. Farley acted a lot like John, and died in the same way too I guess lol.
