I load the BB 25th Anniversary disc in my DVD player, only to find out that due to the many scratches that none of the features play.

I notify Blockbuster about this and request a new copy.

2nd copy comes back looking like the viewer used it as a coaster for water or something as there is some film on it. Needless to say IT WAS SCRATCHED!

1) I'd like to know why no one at Blockbuster seems to take any care of previous used DVDs and

2) WTF is up with people's mis-treatment of BORROWED DVDs? Its one thing if it was part of your own personal collection, but when other people go online to rent it, they shouldn't have to deal with the indifferent way people treat DVDs and CDs

Sorry, had to rant... :x

Oh, BTW, I would buy it, but sadly I'm running out of space in my place of residence, so it's rentals and local libraries and iTunes for my viewing and listening pleasures

I think part of the problem is that this particular DVD is double-sided. I wish the Region 1 release had been a two-disc set instead.

I've never tried Blockbuster online. Is it any good?

I agree Scott, it should have been two discs. I have to be really careful handling my 25th anniversary DVD.

I usually rent movies through my dad's Netflix account. Occasionally, I receive a disc that's unplayable because of scratches. But a little scratch remover does the trick.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to keep a DVD in its case when it's not in use!

let's put it this way, find better things to blow your dough on, mostly because something like that, your average person dont give a hoot, they flip it around, let their kids touch and play w/ it, i mean it's just the genral ignorance of most people as a whole these days. Ive lent out audio CD's and guess what.... the come back w/ scratches all over it! And I'm talking it just needs to go to 1 person to see the effects!

Best thing nowadays, buy blank disc's averaging around 25 to 50 cents each and burn someone a copy, because they will treat that copy (flip it around in the car) like your original, thats it, dont loan cd's or Dvd's to your friends, unless youm know thier habits. Ive been there and honestly, I dont know what the reason is for it, but it still comes back not how you borrowed it.

I could probably put the extras (or the whole DVD) online,
... if that would interest anyone.

But, I would recommend a fast internet connection and something other than the standard media player.

That would be illegal.

I HATE double-sided DVDs. Universal is the worst culprit for this.

In Australia the BB 25th DVD is a 2 disc set, but I couldn't wait so I got the Region 1 version.

UHF (Starring Weird Al) is double sided, but it's by MGM. Side A has widescreen, side B has full frame.

The Producers (original with Gene Wilder) is doublesided, also an MGM Widescreen/FullFrame version.

SeaQuest DSV Season 1 has doublesided discs, with 3-4 episodes on each side, it's by Universal.

Sliders Series 3 is the most poorly designed DVD release ever made. 4 discs, all doublesided. The packaging is very cheap and practically disposable. The discs, when put in the packaging, actually overlap, so you need to take disc 1 out to get to disc 2, and the surfaces rub against each other. It's flimsy, and pathetic design on the part of Universal Studios. On top of that, disc 1 has preview trailers before getting to the menu, and the only extras are a couple of outtakes and 2 bonus episodes of other Universal TV shows.
