Steve "The Colonel" Cropper has been one of my main guitar heroes since I was a kid, when I first heard "Green Onions" by Booker T and the MGs. Now I'm too old to have heroes, but what the heck!
Does anyone know what guitar Steve played way back in the early days of the MGs? What made that unearthly sound in "Green Onions"?

seeing how he had a passion for fenders my guess would be either a mustang or a telecaster . all fenders give off that good old country sound that works great in r & b and rock.

Considering how much the Cropper Classic looks like a Tele, I am prepared to accept the suggection that SC played a Tele in the old days.

It's rather a while since I started this thread, but just recently I had the pleasure of seeing a clip of Booker T & the MGs playing live in the early 1960s. And The Colonel was playing - yes - a Telecaster!
