While looking for a tape I purchased at the "A tribute to the blues brothers" stage show (see 'the musical' thread in Blues Brothers Movie page) I came across a tape I forgot I had. It is a bootleg cassette recording of the blues brothers band playing the Town & Country Club in London on Monday May 21st 1990. (Actually claimss they played three nights 21-23). It is not listed on the gig guide, so may be an unknown recording.

The photocopied inlay states the band members: Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn, Matt Murphy, Blue Lou, Tom Malone, Danny Gottlieb, Alan Ruban, Leon Pandarvis, Larry Thurston and Eddie Floyd.

I remember buying the tape from a record fair in what must have been eirly 1990's.

Does the inlay have a song list? If not I guess you'll have to listen to it and write it yourself.

Don't know about quality as I don't have easy access to a tape player. And it's years since I played it. I will try and find a way to play it.

Typed songlist on inlay reads as follows:

Green Onions
Peter Gunn Theme
Soulfinger
You Don't Know Like I Know
She Caught The Katy
Hold On
The Thrill Is Gone
Midnight Hour
Sweet Home Chicago
Can't Turn You Loose
Raise Your Hand
6345789
Stand By Me
My Baby Likes The Soaps
Knock On Wood
Soul Man
Hey Bartender
Everybody Needs Somebody To Love.

Quite a set list don't you think?

Wow, how could you forget to have such a great cassette?
But anyway, maybe you can make a copy and somehow send it to Chris, so that he can add it on the new homepage in the bootleg-area.

You don't have a tape player? We still have our record player!

Hopefully you can not only find a tape player, but also hook it up to a computer, record it digitally, and split each song to a separate file. Maybe one of our resident audio engineers can help clean up the tape hiss?

This was just posted on digg.com; would be useful in this situation.

Good spot, would do the job, but $139! I could buy a hi-fi tape deck for half that and connect it upm to my sound card input.

I have found a tape deck to listen to the bootleg on. It's appears to be very poor quality. But I don't remember it being that bad when I brought it. It may be the tape deck. It's not been used for years. I think I will try and source some head cleaning fluid for the deck. See if that helps.

Any advise from the audio geeks?

Hmmmm, I thought you had a cassette copy of a show with bad sound - I must be thinking of another UK show.

Or I am just crazy.

Which is entirely possible.

Hmm, it's been sitting here for over 2 years!
I probably should upload it shouldn't I...that's why SP2153 sent it to me in the first place!

Apologies to SP2153 for me being such a slacker

Hi Guys,

This was my original post. I found the old Cassette in my loft back in 2006. Sorry for not picking up on this revived thread before. i only log on every now and then. Unfortunately, I have moved out to Australia, and my many hundreds of old cassette tapes did not make the move with me. I think the tape may still be in the loft of my house in the UK.

If/when I go back, I will try and look it out. I am happy to send it, as is, it whoever can do something with it, as I have no use for it. And definitely don't have a tape player any more.

But please don't hold your breath. I am not planning to be back in the UK until November 09 at the earliest.

Sorry.
