Are there any theories around as regards to how the Brothers leave the Palace Hotel at night - it's dawn when they reach Chicago city limits - and lunchtime by the time they get to the Tax Assessment Office??? and it's only 106 miles......
Night to day - how can this be??

Well, we don't actually know that it's lunchtime when they get to the office, or have I missed something? Is there a clock somewhere? I know that Steven Speilberg is eating a sandwich during his break, but perhaps he was having... morning tea? A sandwich for breakfast - why not?
As for the night-to-dawn car chase, perhaps Elwood took a detour trying to loose the cops. Okay, I'm just pulling things out of the air here, but it could happen!

I assumed it was lunchtime because I thought the sign on the Tax Assesor's office read "Out to lunch" but on reflection it was "Back in 5 minutes" - sorry, my mistake!

As for the sandwich... people sometimes eat a little of there luch if they are hungry on their first break. I've done it before, but soon realized I didnt have enough for lunch.

Back in five minutes does seem to suggest a normal break rather than lunch break. Maybe the sandwich was his breakfast? Some people at my office eat breakfast here because they don't get up early enough to eat at home.

"And get it to the Cook County Assessor's Office as soon as they open in the morning..."
Maybe they got there at 8:55am?
